I think what might be rubbing people the wrong way is that he's not saying there was miscommunication, both were in the wrong, they decided to bury the hatchet and forget the past, he's sticking to his guns that he was wronged and the feud wasn't his fault. It says a lot that he said this to Slash, and is perhaps why no one is saying anything to the press (Duff & Slash) as to not rock the boat. Slash, his first and only word on the subject is that they got rid of the negativity. That's all that matters. And Axl probably did let a lot go. It says to me he was waiting 20 years for Slash to say he was sorry.

Good post. He needs to "let it go". Also it would be nice to play nice in public and resolve issues behind the scenes. Now we all know how it feels.

Easier said than done until you're put in that situation personally. Axl felt wronged all those years, nothing can take that away. He may be willing to forgive, but it's not easy to forget. He had his say in the past and unleashed quite a bit. This is mild to say the least. I doubt Slash cares one bit, as it seems they've talked it over and come to some understanding. Slash knows what he did to hurt Axl, he admitted to it on Stern years ago. So it's not some big shocker for him to hear Axl repeat similar sentiments in two sentences to a Q&A group. He's not exactly airing their sordid dirty laundry to the masses here. He's being honest and genuine. If pressed more, he may have expanded one way or the other. We'll have to see if he ends up speaking to Eddie Trunk, or others in the future.

The coma line makes I look like Slash was begging Axl to play it and Axl only did it to make Slash happy.

That's not how I heard it at all. Here's the snippet:

He was asked which songs he liked to play, he mentioned the CD ones and then added he liked to play Coma because he knew it would make Slash and the fans happy. To me it sounded thoughtful and gracious.

That's exactly how I took it. It's all open to interpretation. But I do not get the notion that he only decided to play Coma to throw Slash a bone. And even if that was the case, is that so bad? It's far better then saying, "screw Slash. Who cares what he wants to play and how he feels?"

Again, I think our expectations may have been a little out of whack. We weren't going to return to 1993 all of a sudden. These guys have been through a lot over the years, a lot of stuff has been said. All of that needed to be processed and dealt with. The fact that we are at this point is a minor miracle. I don't think we could ask for or expect much more.

I also thought it was interesting that Axl talked about how hard Slash and Duff have worked to get in rhythm with Frank, since that's been such a hot topic around here. Maybe it's still an ongoing process, but it seemed like Axl was saying that they play the songs at a different tempo these days and the "new guys" had/have to adjust to that. Did anyone else get that vibe or was I reading too much into that?

I don't see it that way. Regardless of the reasons they're playing it, I hope they continue to do so. I hope him sitting in the chair wasn't the main reason. I think he can still pull it off though. Seems to be fine on his feet with AC/DC right now.

Seems to me Axl still is pissed at Slash but tolerates it for money. He is still condescending and patronizing to him. Like he still has to let us know he was right and slash was wrong basically. That is the vibe I got. Talking about Coma and his work ethic are two instances. Slash always had good work ethic. But Axl acts like it is some new thing.

I get what you're saying and agree to a point. But I think Axl was just expressing that he was pleased more than surprised that Slash was so willing and open to work on the CD songs. And I thought it was nice that he added Coma for Slash, a concession of sorts. The book stuff worries me a little, but then again at least they talked it out. It's not like they got back together and didn't address the elephant in the room. I'm sure Slash hashed some things out too. It's asking a lot for them to be best friends after so many years and all they went through. I'll take them being civil to one another and having a good working relationship. That's a start, and much further along than I could've imagined less than a year ago.

I know in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal, it's just disapointing knowing there's a time limit on what should be one of the best nights of my life. And it's not exactly like Foxboro is a great place to go out after.

Plus say goodbye to any chance of a rarity in the set. Hell they'd probably cut Coma before The Seeker.

That depends on when they take the stage. The shows they've played so far have been about 2.5 hours, right? So if they go on by 8:45, they'd be within range. If it gets past 9 and they still haven't taken the stage, then we might have a problem.

I don't have tickets for night 2, but if they decide to sell them at bargain bin prices I'd jump on them. I've been trying to convince friends to go, but now I think I'll wait to see what happens. We should get a better feel for things once they start playing again. If they start playing 3 hour shows we could be missing out in Foxboro. But from what we've seen so far, it SHOULDN'T be a huge issue.

I'm concerned axl will have worn out his rasp with Ac/Dc and it will be back to mickey this tour.

I'm not too worried about that, but we'll find out soon enough. I think he'll be fine though.

I haven't soured on it but the novelty did wear off and I haven't been watching videos. LIke I said, I have no problem with him doing AC/DC. He can multitask. I'm just hoping for GNR to treat the reunion like the event that it is and give it the attention it truly deserves.

There's a window for new material and if the focus is going to be on live shows, considering how huge both bands he's touring with are, that window is capable of shutting fairly quickly. If he's going back and forth between two huge acts, where's the down time? Since Slash and Duff aren't talking, we don't know what they are doing while Axl tours with AC/DC.

Slash was supposed to work on the next album with Myles during the downtime. Not sure about Duff.

I'm sort of the same way with AC/DC. I'm happy Axl seems to be having a blast. He's doing a stellar job and winning skeptics over, repairing his image a bit. But I can't say I'm following the shows on periscope or checking the setlists to see what they played after every show. And even though there are plenty of good quality videos out there, I don't actively search them out. Not even a comparison to when the main event was going on. It'll be back soon enough though, and I'll get right back on that horse.

Well I assume best case scenario Lenny goes on at 8, and he probably plays for an hour, so your switching sets at 9. Best case scenario there GnR goes on at 9:30.

I just don't see that best case scenario playing out.

Show time is 7 for Foxboro, so I'd hope Lenny would go on soon after that and be done by 8. Guns from 8:45-11:15. It's doable. I agree with you about the "older crowd" though. That's an extremely lame excuse. I'm not even sure what that means in the context of everything. A younger crowd can rock out until 11:40, but us old folks turn into pumpkins after 11:15? That makes no sense. They shouldn't have gone there.

I have never seen anyone open for GnR.
Festival shows don't count. Don't even know who was in front of them at one & prodigy at Leeds 02 doesn't count.

I would maybe make an effort to see kravitz, just for the sake of seeing what he had to offer, but I would prob miss him just the same. I would make an effort to see AiC but I love them.

In America is the done thing to go to the venue & drink/hangout there? Here we're usually within walking distance or a taxi journey to the arena, what tends to happen is we'll congregate in bars or houses before heading over.
Or maybe that's mostly just me, I'm late for everything. Except for guns gigs..

For these stadium shows there will be a lot of tailgating. People will show up early and setup camp in the parking lot and pre game. Drink some beers, grill up some food, etc. For smaller shows where they don't allow tailgating at the venue, people will congregate at a bar beforehand or they'll start at home. I've got a hotel room for the 19th in Foxboro (actually 4, but that's another story and we need to cancel some of those). I have Patriots season tickets at Gillette and traffic is pretty much a nightmare getting in and out of there. Didn't really feel like dealing with that before a 2 hour ride home at 2AM. So we'll start at the hotel and my hope is to head to the parking lot to join the party before it gets too crazy. Depending on how things go or how I'm feeling, I'll make a call on whether to see Lenny or not. I've offered my services to drive, so I'll do my drinking early on and take it easy once I head into the show. My wallet will thank me, and I'd like to avoid blackout stage as I'd like to remember every single moment of the night. I've been to a bunch of shows that I enjoyed immensely, but struggle to remember the finer details to say the least. Don't want that to happen this time. It may be tough, but I have faith in myself.
