I was thinking they can't possibly just keep on touring every year so I checked out Metallica, and yes you can. They've been on some kind of tour every year since 1983 except for 01-02, 05 and 2020.
If they release 2 songs every year that's going to cover a good few years for them.
You’re right but if they oversaturate the market will it still be financially worth it? Metallica will “tour” every year but rarely touch the US. Presumably they can make plenty of money doing the Euro festivals and South America.

I listened to Old Skool for the first time in months and the cut and paste aspect of it was obvious, even to my untrained ear. But it is what it is. If this is the only way to get new music from these guys, then so be it.
Yeah but you had heard the “unreleased” version before because you are a diehard fan (like everyone here). They aren’t doing stadiums, baseball parks, and arenas because of people like us. The general public doesn’t care much less know the extent of copy and paste.

With no US dates on the books I entertained the idea of going. Like maybe 20% chance I would. Cant imagine if I left for the night or 2 with a 2 month old in the house and the show got fucking canceled. My wife would be ecstatic i’m sure.
Does anyone here remember the wait to get in the doors the first Vegas show of the reunion (their second concert). It was raining the crowd was restless and I had a reallllly bad feeling everything fell off the rails.

What a bummer. Also one of the rare GnR cancellations you can’t be mad at the band!

Yeah but also think about this…people want new songs written with Slash and Duff. Is Axl really motivated to write new lyrics? What inspires him? He’s decades older now. Do we just all go on the premise that Axl is constantly coming up with lyrics in a notebook or something? I’m not so sure.

Who knows? He could have a book full of lyrics or nothing…he’s quite an enigma. Chances are better on lyrics than vocals
See I’m not positive about that claim though. We know from previous posts he has recorded vocals. We do not know there are lyrics from which to complete those vocals. Full circle, see Quick Song.

I’d also question his motivation to write new lyrics, let alone record the vocals.

I imagine the last time he did vocals in earnest would be in the 2006 timeframe. Songs like Shackler’s and Better clearly had different sounding Axl. There’s also the story of him recording vocals for Soul Monster i think on like xmas day. But yeah his newest vocals to date are Rock the Rock.

Prior to the purchase of the Village/Storage Locker CDs, do we have confirmation that those discs had circulated at all?
Someone on a forum had quoted the chorus of “Sorry” (absent from the storage locker recordings) years prior to the album’s release, but is there evidence that hoarders had copies of the storage locker discs?
No official confirmation...but years ago when I talked to various players on the forums, I was told there were a "bunch" of discs floating around.
Back in 2006-7 I assumed this was the Trunk discs and in 2008...the second album.
Whatever the hell was in circulation, it was out there in 2003-04... maybe earlier.
I remember what a fucking miracle it was when IRS leaked in what? 2005/2006? Hearing that they played it on Trunk and not actually hearing the track for months later.

I heard the proshot on YouTube today and Sweet Child is actually quite raspy. When I heard the cell phone clips I couldnt hear any at all but the clarity of the pro shot really makes easier to hear. It’s softer than the old days but I still think he sounds good live and could put out great vocals on an album. Would probably surprise a lot of us.
Axl is definitely no Vince Neil.
At least he tries. I’ve often thought Axl would never record again in a studio but then I remembered Rock the Rock. If he can do it for Scooby can he do it for GnR?
