#371 Re: Guns N' Roses » Lenny Kravitz on opening for GNR » 486 weeks ago

I'd rather have Lenny open a few shows before I go, but looks like that won't happen. I'd rather know what I'm getting going in on the 19th, but I guess I'll have to make a judgement call that night.

Just an awesomely heartwarming story here. Try and hold back the tears while watching this. Nearly impossible.

Pretty sure I started on mygnr during their short lived 2002 NA tour. I posted on sports message boards prior to that and decided to expand my horizons. However I no longer post on any of those sites. Joined HTGTH in early 2003 and ROV somewhere along the line. I joined here after getting an invite from James during the 2006 leaks when all that was being ignored at HTGTH. I'm pretty sure I've signed up at other forums too, but I'm only active here and HTGTH. That fills my needs.

This is far more about making fun of Coachella than GNR, but there is one minor Axl mention.

Is this a good idea? I mean, GNR just got back together and he's talking about replacing Brian long-term.

Depends if it takes away from the GNR experience, or to what extent. It would take some creativity to do and put max effort into both. Per usual, we have to wait and see how it plays out. It might sound good on paper, but if GNR plans go into next year and AC/DC doesn't want to wait around, that would pose a problem.

Maybe it'll be good for him & us in the long run. Some good might rub off on his approach from here out..

It does seem that he's in a better spot in life. Happier, in a sense. Maybe all the years of carrying the GNR banner by himself has been lifted a bit over the last year with all the recent developments. Maybe he's ready to take full advantage of that and put himself out there for the whole world to see.

Eddie Trunk mentioned again in passing on Twitter that he expects to interview Axl soon. I don't know if that's just going back to the discussion they had in Vegas, or if it's a little more concrete than that. But it does seem that he's willing to talk, maybe just steer clear of the whole breakup of GNR and any animosity involved. All the dirty laundry and whatnot.

Faldor,I agree it is cool and fucked up at the same time. When he is in AC/DC Slash and Duff can do their side things I guess. But I wanted Axl to focus on new material with Slash and Duff as well. Oh well.

That is true. Past versions of Guns have allowed for lots of downtime for side projects and such. And it's not like AC/DC is a nonstop functioning band either. They have their share of downtime too. So I suppose it could work, which would be awesome! But, is Axl ready to go full bore? Maybe making amends with Slash and getting this opportunity in AC/DC has renergized him to new levels. At least, we can hope that. But it certainly doesn't sound like Axl is in this short term if all goes well of course. Let's see how the shows go and the reception it gets first though. That may be a factor in determining future roles.

That's F'ed up. Like the movie "Hostel" come to life.

Axl sounds quite interested in continuing on with AC/DC and not making this a one time thing. How would that work exactly? Did we wait all these years to get Slash back in the fold only to see Axl join another band? Like he said, we're getting ahead of ourselves, but I don't see how one man could front two legendary bands at the same time. And this is a guy who many would argue wasted his prime years of his career with inactivity and silent periods. Is he ready to work nonstop all of a sudden while he still can? He is a fascinating character. There's no doubt about that.
