Bucket was Axl’s Steve Vai.

Definitely seems like CD II was ITW, Shackler’s, Sorry.

No sign of Better and Scraped so far. Which suggests 2004 sessions of interest. But there’s enough to back up the idea of two cds and an electronica one with full guitars. I also feel like there’s 5 or 6 new Estranged instrumentals.

Reddit seems like a dangerous place to be. Everytime I go on there it’s whoa whoa chill chill chill. It’s like pouring acid into open heart surgery. How dare you slide into my dms.

Which one was it that Axl didn’t get into a club because he was wearing a fur coat so he went back to hotel and barricaded himself in?

I think that was a rumor that covered that Ezrin had shot down the album Axl said was ready to mix. So he knew they needed more studio time.

Did Madison ever come clean on what Axl told her the single would be in 2002?

You're right. Atlas is amazing. Shocked it gets very little fanfare.

It’s that’s special song you need to hang an album on. The SCOM, DC, TIL - those songs aren’t exactly my favorites (in fact DC disgust me) but they have something really undeniable about them in a broader sense. Atlas has that thing where it could mean a lot of different things to different people. Universal is what I’m trying to say I think. It’s not crazy like Silkworms or some massive deep epic, it’s catchy but also is emoting something you feel like you understand. I made that triple espresso extra strong.

I also remember buzz among casual fans in 99 about how awesome a guitarist buckethead was.  There was, curiosity at least, in seeing what Axl could do with the new lineup.

I definitely went to a show in Leeds around 2000 something and people were turning up with KFC buckets in their heads. But that was festival crowds on a bill with The Prodigy and The Strokes. Axl said he’d be back next year after the great reception. Then the tour ended in a riot. Then go back to forums and it was this isn’t GNR. But watching Bucket do nunchucks to the Stars Wars theme you got the impression it was going to be great album.

I could see that Madagascar and Prostitute are more Massive Attack. Unfinished Sympathy inspires. Axl also used open sets with the theme from Luck which was Massive attack.

Splitting the Atom from Heligoland, kind of like Leonard Cohen meets trip hop dancehall.

It is strange that Zutait said Atlas Shrugged was going to be the first single back in the day.

Then it wasn’t on the album.

It’s a total smash song, so good it makes me want destroy things. Or at least knock my waste paper basket over.

The  Zepp alien technology is all over.

Is Perhaps perhaps the best song of this era? I am certainly in love with it.

Yeah high level stuff somewhere between Catcher and IRS.

Can sort of see why they went with Catcher as there’s lyrically a different theme there.

Brings back the idea of a trilogy with one May solo on each album. CD was such a defiant statement it might be that. Atlas and Perhaps are more self reflective. State is also quite introspective.

I think Sepultra covered Devo, I can see Axl having a Devo fetish.
