But the point brought forth was wes arkeen...
Uh huh. I mentioned West as someone whose song is a mainstay in the setlist, but he's not in the band (nor ever was). ISE is both a West and Guns song, I think. This suggests the concept of a Guns song can extend beyond any given lineup - in this case, AFD5.
Any definitive Slash song (take your pick) performed in '01-'14 was still a Guns song. And Robin was in Guns, so whatever is said of Better now should be reflected to what was said about SCOM or whatever back in his day.
Better, CD and TIL all sprang from the CD era and were written certain folks, incl. Axl. They were Guns songs then and they are Guns songs now. Like ISO, they can be adopted by the core trio and amalgamated into any setlist without a hitch.
If anything, they have been redeemed somewhat, as they are free from the shadow of the $13 Million (and then some) album and can simply exist as Guns songs.
As for Robin, I pined for him all the way from 2009 to 2014. He should've had been there, because he brought a lot of soul to the CD band.

Apples and oranges...one actually played in the band.
But if we go down to that, we face the fact that Slash's songs were heavily featured in 2001-14.
Those songs were always 'his' as much as Better will always be 'Robin's'.
Where does this leave us Finck aficionados? For one, we can rejoice that Robin's song is still alive.
Think about it - Axl and Slash finally reunite after 23 years and they both feel Better is worthy of playing.
Without knowing any better, better, I have a feeling that brought a smile on Robin's face.

But also, fact is, Robin wrote Better. If there is no Robin, there is no better.
Big fan of
but...
Is there an It's So Easy without West Arkeen? It'll always be West's song, despite the whirlpool it went through - as Axl famously recalled in the '06 Trunk show.

Blows my mind that after a decade of consistently delivering accurate news and info that some still try to play this silly game where they pretend I don't know what I'm talking about.
I don't know how many times I have to be proven right at this point. It's asinine.
You reap what you sow, dude.
Sure, you had a hand in leaking songs back in the day. Most fans lapped it up because of the long wait. The music you shared (or had a hand in sharing) was created by other people. Your contribution was the cloak and dagger routine, is all. Unlike Skewrl, you got away with having a hand in distributing copyrighted material without the rightsholders' consent. Ethics aside, that's what happened.
It was a bit rich to think most people cared an iota of your self-confessed IQ - they just wanted the music. You probably understand you came off smug there. Portraying yourself as the Robin Hood of the fanbase felt phony to many (incl. myself) in the midst of all that grandstanding. And that email/Powerpoint brouhaha fizzled from an embarrassment to an obscurity. Fans were none the wiser after all was said and done.
Times have changed, Mister. Even Axl tweets now and tours regular. Now, you show up and say you have unreleased material. What you got, a studio version of Silk Worms? In this day and age, we can hardly feign curiosity towards your act unless you deliver the goods upfront.

talks shit all day long, but when asked for an example . . . he's got nothing.
That's right, Mr 60 Minutes.
In other news, the reunion almost fell apart. Carry on.

What I noticed is that since Axl can't move, you catch him just watching and listening to the band more.
He's now forced to sit back and take it in between the verses. For someone with Axl's ears, this could be a revelation. Also, it's interesting that Slash, Duff and Fortus are now in demand to fill the space Axl leaves vacant. I like how they all oft gravitate towards the Iron Throne.
What I've seen from the videos is a band working together around Axl's predicament. Considering their past 20-odd years of history, it's strange to see Axl tied down like a wolf in a trap when the show finally hits the road. But it's good to see he's getting the help. Killer voice, too.
Fortus should have been the guy in the old band and after 15 years and thanks to a 2 guitar set up Fortus finally gets to Shine!!!!
Amazingly, Fortus replaced the rhythm guitarist Slash had issues with. One can dream of Fortus showing up in the '96 sessions.

Have you noticed the sea change on the recent NA tours, btw?
2014: Some festivals & Vegas residency #2.
2013: Some festivals & theatres/clubs.
Late '12: Bridge School & Vegas residency #1.
Early '12: Up Close and Personal Club Tour.
Late '11: Irving Azoff Pension Fund Tour.
Only that 2011 tour features the same venues as in '02 and '06. Since then, Guns fell through as an arena band. It's a situation a bit similar to 2002, when ClearChannel declared Axl a liability and a pain in the ass.
Axl sure waited until the last minute with his ace in the hole.

HOLY SHIT
Vintage 2002 LALD Axl scream alert
Fuck
You know it. The Scream was one of Axl's highlights in '02.
Check this out. It's roughly a 12-second long wail.

The same, fourteen years later.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWcjwyu1CVE#t=38s
The Scream remains the same.
#389 Re: Guns N' Roses » The consequences of the Iron Throne » 527 weeks ago
I think it's fair to note, that the Iron Throne has possibly been provided by Dave Grohl, and if I remember correctly, Axl thanked Dave or made some joke about it during the show.
Thanks for pointing it out, news to me.
And to have Dave Grohl, one of the most liked people in rock, just hand over the Iron Throne to Axl.
Hold that thought for a while. The Nirvana drummer giving him a throne. King Axl, again.
The last time Grohl bailed him was when Foo Fighters headlined Rock in Rio Lisboa in 2004

Better was a diamond in the rough on CD.
Glad it's having a second-life with Slash.
