There's Axl's wonderful sense of self-awareness, again.
He'd likely see himself as Atlas, but if you look closely, Slash is the one who shrugged.
That already happened with the album title, in my opinion. "Chinese Democracy" always felt like a declaration of "it's a band, it's supposed to be a democracy but I am the one calling all the shots"

I was listening to it yesterday and thought the lines "You like to hurt me / You know that you do / You like to think in some way / That it's me and not you" + Shacklers lyrics made some sense together.
For the first time I saw all the "YOU" in Chinese Democracy as some sort of inner demon(s) instead of some external person/factor/element.

There's the other side to the story as well.. It was probably requested for bumble and DJ (and anyone else we might not know yet) to not announce anything after Vegas since the blue-ray release was right around the corner.
Given the infamous revolving door status gnr already has it could affect potential sales to have a brand new release to feature an already outdated lineup.

If he'd stop running and would stood in place more, he'd sing a lot better.
His performance problems were due to being out of shape mostly.
Just listen to Dublin boot, when he was pissed off, standing still... Flawless.
