And the official numbers are in. $18.5 million from midnight shows alone. This does NOT include 3 AM and 6 AM, and there were a shitload of those. My guess is it made $20-21 million from midnight to 6 AM. Absolutely incredible. Sith was the movie event of the decade and somehow, a sequel to a little movie called Batman Begins has taken down the mighty Star Wars. Batman Begins only made $205 million domestic and yet its sequel has pulled off the unthinkable.

Just for some comparisons, Sith held that record for 3 years at $16.9 million with no movie coming within even $4 million of it. The closest behind Sith was 2007's Harry Potter with $12 million. Spidey 3 made $9 million. Pirates 2 made around $10 million.

If the number of "HOLY SHIT" type of responses continues from fans, I won't be surprised if it actually jumps up to #1 for a short time period. There's gonna be a fuckload of very happy Batman fans over the next 24 hours voting 10's out the ass.

Yeah but it won't be until probably Tuesday. I am not flying back until late Sunday night. Going fishing with my dad on Sunday. He got a new boat recently and I haven't been fishing in a long time so it should be a great weekend. Anyway, on Monday I'm going to see TDK at the local theater with $8 of free movie cash that I got from Hot Topic when I bought 2 TDK shirts. So that will get me down to needing 8 more viewings to reach my goal of 10. I saw Batman Begins 6 times in the theater and I'm determined to see this one at least 10 times.

But definitely, I'll give a review. I'm not really the long-winded type when it comes to reviews. I usually am the type to go over really general stuff like the acting, cinematography, music, etc. I'm expecting nothing less than similar quality to Batman Begins.

Aussie, it begins showing on the east coast in just 25 minutes. For Central time zone, 1 hour and 25 minutes. And on the West coast, that's 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Midnight showings are selling out like crazy. It might break Revenge of the Sith's $16.9 million midnight record. By the way, just so you guys get an idea of how big that is, Batman Begins made $15 million for its entire opening day in 2005.
