Bizarre trivia. Axl Rose destroyed GN'R because of his "vision" to sound like Nine Inch Nails while Slash and the others wanted to sound like AC/DC. 20 years later and Axl not only reunites with Slash, but joins AC/DC. You can't make up this stuff. Axl is the greatest troll in music history.

Precisely why he should do those 10 shows and roll on to a stadium tour with Guns.

It's interesting that if they go with him, they are a fire underneath their asses to shuffle 5 weeks of touring to begin in May, the latest, so that Ax can hit the June 23rd date in Detroit with Guns. The one time Axl invited to do something else, he's busy launching one of the most important tours of his career. Trolling Angus, big-time.

They were tight during CD era 01-02 and CD era 06-07 as well. But the wheels fell off during the third and final CD era. DJ is a showman and a writer, NOT a guitar player, and was criticized (unwarranted) for being a crappy player and I thought so as well, to discover years in that DJ is a showman player from the school of Ace Frehley and KISS, rather than a guitar player's player. Ron had personal problems and got sloppier and sloppier as his tenure in the band went on

The post-CD-era would've been better without Ashba. Just Fortus and Ron.

Ha!!! I refuse to acknowledge the Ashba/Bumble years. I'm just going to attribute the last 23 years to an April Fools joke gone wrong, lol.

There, there. The first decade without Slash ('97-'07) had genuine effort and a strange kind of integrity.

But Axl's late for everything and we got that lineup I for one never bothered to see. Just felt wrong.

-Axl lost his footing during Brownstone and ended up ripping his jeans in the crotch. During the solo he walked over to the side of the stage and pointed up at Lenny Kravitz and back down at his crotch and said "Penisgate" or somethin to that effect and they both started laughing.

At first, Axl feared he was too big for his britches with the new lineup. Glad he got over it.

-Godfather Theme was awesome! Before he started it Axl said "Heres a man that needs no introduction, but gets one anyways. Ladies and Gentlemen, Slash."

Cool of Slash to include his trademark solo from the Illusion days. Fitting.

-Better had a whole new intro. It was this really heavy riff that just kept building and we're in the crowd goin holy shit theyre playing a new song. The riff kept building until it somehow came to a crash with Duff starting "no one ever told me when..." It was epic and strange seeing Slash completely rocking out in the chorus. Again he did a killer solo and did a cool slide part in the last verse. Again Axl slayed the "i never wanted you to be so full of anger" section.

Will look forth to this (and CD). I always felt the lyrics at that breakdown (never wanted you to be somebody else) were Axl's intended message to Slash, as in, 'I hate to do this without you, but I have to'.

-before Michelle Axl and Duff were talking and into the mic Axl goes "im goin by your guys' list tonight. Im follwing your lead" Duff starts laughing and Axl goes "thats very rare for me. I mean you guys know im an agreeable kinda guy. Im like Trump, i consult with myself." Funny moment.

KOHD was most akin to a ballad in the set and that's a pretty elastic song. Obviously, Slash and Duff wanted a rocking club set, which meant axing mainstays like NR, Estranged, Maddy... Those songs would've been a bit awkward on a show celebrating their early days.

-Heavens Door was probably the most special moment of the show. Axl starts the first sing along section and then right when he looked like he was gonna start the 2nd he kinda stopped himself and looked around the stage and said "this is the first time in 23 years us 3 have been on stage together, 1993, July i believe it was" the crowd just erupted.

Yup. They came crawling back, if you look at it from a certain angle. The other way around, they are saving the band from diminishing returns and enabling Ax to reclaim the Guns legacy.

-another cool moment was Nightrain when they kicked into the first verse. It was "Look out" and both Axl and Slash started the foot stomp, gliding across the stage, stoping for a brief second in front of each other, and spinning off.

They've had many a talk, then. Axl likes to shoot his mouth and have one-on-one's with people. Quite long ones, even. The real break would've been when Ax finally had Slash in front of him and felt placated enough to articulate the grief he's been carrying. With any luck, Ax is maturing behind the scenes.

Its good news for the vault if Slash is prepared to re-jig some of that material, bet Axl wont be half as apprehensive about releasing those songs if Slash has had his wicked way with them.

Axl's always been lenient on players bringing their own feel to established works. Brain ploughed through the Josh Freese drum tracks just because Iovine was complaining and at the same time, Axl was intrigued by the Brain&Bucket chemistry. There have been more blatant examples of re-jigging later on, but we can prolly let those fade away. Make room for the Real Top Hat.

Also: interesting that it looks like Fortus took the slide solo on RQ. I really want to find out if he did the shred stuff on Better and Chinese Democracy, and if KOHD was the more recent Fortus "Mick Taylor-esque" version rather than the classic Slash arpeggios version, too – if both are true it lends weight to my theory that this really is Slash and Duff "plugging in" to the existing touring setup. The acid test is: does Fortus get one of the November Rain solos?

The Slash/Fortus dynamic is going to be interesting to observe. Slash is generally wary on his rhythm players and they've always been live only in Snakepit/Conspirators. There was also the unfortunate matter of Paul Huge. Fortus is cut from a different cloth, more than enough chops to handle his spot, a humble pro, and long-standing member. Technically, he's the best wingman Slash has ever had. As they got Axl to eschew the 3rd guitarist (thankfully), I bet he's going to be more attentive that Fortus gets his share of the limelight.

The opener seamlessly faded in to the filthy and famous intro to “Mr. Brownstone.” Halfway through the song, Axl, who was standing on an amp, fell backwards on to the stage. Some held their breath. Would this be the immediate derailment that cynics have batted about for months? No. Axl rose from the floor, gathered himself, and marched on.

1,5 songs in, Axl fell on his ass. Audience gasped. Axl rose. tongue

It was surprising to hear the title track from 2008’s Slash-less Chinese Democracy played by Slash himself. The infamously arduous album never gained traction among the masses. Nevertheless, it felt a part of the performance.

Recall any Better?

By the end of [Rocket Queen], Axl and Slash stood side by side on monitors at the front of the stage. It was a moment that felt democratic, and one that later gave away to an outright endorsement by Axl when he introduced Slash by saying, “The man who needs no introduction, but will get one anyways…”

Hardly a talkative Axl we have here.

Wonder if St. Louis is being held back in case of more demand.

Guns N' Roses spokesperson discusses the St. Louis show's cancellation

A spokesperson for Guns N’ Roses says the rock band had every intention of performing in St. Louis this summer as part of its "Not in This Lifetime" tour, but just couldn’t make it happen.

St. Louis was among the cities listed in a summer tour tease emailed March 25, but when the date tours and venues were released today (April 1), St. Louis was nowhere to be found.

“It was just not possible to get a venue,” the spokesperson said.

Guns N’ Roses is embarking on a stadium tour, which for St. Louis would have meant either Busch Stadium or the Dome at America’s Center (formerly Edward Jones Dome). Guns N’ Roses played Riverport Amphitheater (now Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre) in 1991 in what resulted in a riot long referred to as the "Riverport Riot."

“We were so excited,” the spokesperson said of playing St. Louis this summer. That excitement increased once Bill “Stump” Stephenson, who was at the center of the riot with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose, surfaced this week to talk about that night.

“We thought it would be great. But it’s a matter of timing and routing. We’re on Guns N’ Roses time,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added a Guns N’ Roses concert can still happen in St. Louis on a different leg of the tour.

“This is only a start.”

July 2 is the 25th anniversary of the "Riverport Riot." -src

Haven't seen them. He did make his remarks mid-conversation.

(a money grab) FU is what pushed it over the edge.

Well that's what bls & I were trying to understand. It's crazy. Whereabouts in the breakdown did Pitmans comments come exactly? Was he already aware he was on the way out, or at least on shaky ground, when he made those comments?

Here's an article.

Feb 26th: This is a nostalgia tour, please don't mention those who are there the last 20 fkg years [sic] oh god no! ...(a money grab) FU.

March 4th: I sincerely apologize to GNR, especially the band and crew, for stupid comments about upcoming tour, ..remember kids, dont drink n text! <- Beta, Fernando, et al, slighted.

March 5th: Studio nite, tracking, #dannycarey #beatrazr #kentbrisley #toolband <- Danny Carey is in both TOOL and Beatrazr. Pitman's hashtagging alone hardly equals recording the TOOL album.

That's pretty much it.

#409 Re: Guns N' Roses » Melissa Reese » 528 weeks ago

Well, here's a curio for you.

Beatrazr members from their FB page.

CHRIS PITMAN , with: FRANK FERRER on vocals DANNY CAREY on percussion MELISSA REESE on vocals

Pitman's Twitter still says he's in Guns. He's had a working relationship with Melissa on Beatrazr, maybe also in Guns (via the remixes). Why Melissa instead of Pitman is perhaps a lesser question than why Pitman gone? Melissa seems like someone who's able to stand in for Pitman without it being a fuss.

Is Melissa a result of powerplay between different camps or was Pitman just unavailable? The latter is unlikely. His Coachella tweet happened in mid-Jan, followed by the cash grab tweet in late Feb. He was warned to lay low the first time around. Chances are, the Scooby-Doo press policy got the better of him.

He referred to people who'd been there 'for the past 20 years'. He, himself, has 18 as of now. Fourteen for Fortus, a decade of Frank. Dizzy obviously qualifies above and beyond, but he's generally more familiar, being a UYI-era member. What's mind-boggling is that Pitman, having gone along for so long, decides he's significant enough to be name-dropped in the reunion, instead of just gearing up for a tour.

It does look like Pit's been reprimanded. If Melissa's still in Vegas, it's starting to look permanent.

Pitman also posted the Coachella poster in Beatrazr FB in Jan. It slipped through the censors, he merely removed it from the timeline without deleting it altogether big_smile

Maybe those 17,000 likes got the better of him.
