AXL ROSE Reportedly Close to Losing Lawsuit Against ACTIVISION For Featuring SLASH - Jan. 31, 2013

The Pulse Of Radio reports that GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose looks like he may lose his $20 million lawsuit filed against video game giant Activision Blizzard, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rose sued the company in November 2010, claiming that it used an image of former GUNS guitarist Slash in Guitar Hero III after promising him that the game would not feature any reference to Rose's ex-bandmate. Rose claimed that was a condition of him agreeing to license the song "Welcome To The Jungle" for use in the game.

However, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge indicated on Thursday (January 31) that he is inclined to dismiss Rose's suit because he did not file it until a full three years after the game's October 2007 release. Rose has said that he was not aware of Slash's image in the game until later, although documents in the case indicated that an attorney for the singer emailed Activision about it around the time the game came out.

Rose said in a deposition, "The reason I did not file a lawsuit is because Activision — through my managers and representatives — offered me a separate video game and other business proposals worth millions of dollars to resolve and settle my claims relating to Guitar Hero III."

He added, "From December 2007 through November 2010, Activision was offering me a GUNS N' ROSES-dedicated video game, a game dedicated to music from the 'Chinese Democracy' album, and other proposals."

Although Rose's legal team tried to point to emails suggesting that an agreement was in place for Activision to not use any images or music related to Slash, Judge Charles Palmer responded, "The only extrinsic evidence supports Activision's interpretation and does not support Rose's interpretation."

that letter made my skin crawl...

I ALWAYS felt that way myself. This was always an embarassing letter, both for Doug, as well as Axl.

It came across as the most humiliating, pandering way or "I want my job back. Please? Purity please? Purity pretty please with sugar on top? I promise I won't screw up again, I love you"

There's nothing wrong with ONE desperate "I love you" letter to try to save the whole deal... but the difference is it's a letter coming from passion. Whether love or hatred. That person has the emotion of passion. They love to hate you, or they just love you. That's what they want. YOUR love. There's something admirable about that, even if it's desperate.

But doing it, disguising it as this, and all for money. Nothing but money. Axl wasn't fooled, and neither would I. Epic douche of the universe Award Nominee moment.

Fuck Doug. He broke up the band. He's one of the guys that if I could send a Terminator  back in time to keep him from ever being born to save GN'R -- he'd be first on the list.

Totally agree mate you only have to look at the tosser in them pictures looks like he just finished the tour to france

SLASH: 'I Feel Blessed That I Got To Work With Probably Two Of The Best Singers Out There' -

Finland's RadioCity.fi recently conducted an interview with legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER). You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

Asked if it ever feels like there is "bad karma" following him because both his previous bands fell apart due to disagreements with their respective lead singers, Slash said: "No, I never looked at it that way, because I feel blessed that I got to work with probably two of the best singers out there. You know — especially in GUNS N' ROSES, I mean, obviously. And so what you've gotta do is you have to take the good with the bad. It's just after a while, it got to be impossible [laughs] to get anything really sort of done. But I appreciate the fact that I got the opportunity to be able to do what we did do, ya know.

Interview (audio):

Slash told Rolling Stone in April 2012 that GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose "hates my guts." The two have not performed together since 1993. Rose currently tours with a completely different version of GUNS N' ROSES featuring no original members but him.

During a 2009 interview with longtime friend and former road manager Del James, first published on Spinner, Rose called Slash a "cancer."

In an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" in May 2012, Slash revealed that Scott Weiland's substance abuse issues weren't the only contributing factor to VELVET REVOLVER's decision to fire the singer. "There was a lot of uncontrollable diva stuff," Slash said. "Serious rock star stuff… You've got this one guy that has decided he's going to dictate to everybody what's going to happen and not even show up. I can't find my shoes in my hotel room. I'm going to go get some coffee and wander down the street and then you can't find him and it's five minutes until showtime. It's classic stuff."

#418 Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Adler’s revenge on GnR » 693 weeks ago

Former Guns n’Roses drummer Steven Adler says the success of his new project is all the revenge he needs to take on his troubled past.

His band, Adler, recently released debut album Back From The Dead. He says the new music has led audiences to stop expecting him to perform a set of GnR classics, and call for more of his new material.

He tells Legendary Rock Interviews: “That is my revenge. The only revenge I wanted on that whole situation was success. I didn’t want vengeance – I didn’t want to hurt anybody – but I wanted to make a great record because, I think success is the greatest revenge.”

Adler believes his band is made up of the “right recipe of people” and credits guitarist Lonny Paul with knocking him into physical shape. “He helped me lose 25 pounds,” the drummer explains. “Until we started working out I didn’t realise how heavy 25 pounds is until I lifted up a 25-pound weight and said, ‘Holy crap, this is what I’ve been carrying around with me?’  It’s all thanks to Lonny.”

Although he’s facing the future, he accepts GnR will always be part of his career. “I’m proud of those songs,” he says. “We’ll always play a couple because Guns was a chapter of my life.”

And he believes the current GnR lineup led by Axl Rose could never have made their classic album Appetite For Destruction. “Everybody I’ve worked with before were all great musicians – but this is the perfect set of ingredients,” he reflects.

“It’s kind of like what I experienced with Guns and Roses. The guys who are in Guns and Roses now couldn’t make an album like Appetite For Destruction. That’s not a slam on them – for some reason the five of us was just some weird mix of ingredients that was able to do that at that time, at that moment.”
