The Targearyans have no claim to the throne though as it stands? As a deposed royal line it would have to be taken by force again. Should Tommen die the next King or Queen would be his next nearest living heir (whoever that is) not just revert back to the previous royal family.

I say that because I don't see Jon taking the crown by force. However I do see Dany doing that (probably defeating the walkers at the sane time) only to find out she's not the most senior Targaeryan. Which sets up Dany vs Jon. Should Jon win everyone would look to him as king by default.

There's mixed reports. It's also being said he was actually arguing with someone else and she intervened and then she got shot and stabbed. Which would make it less of a political thing at least in the sense that he actively targeted an MP. Not that it really makes any difference, other than the motive is still unclear.
