Hey guys,
I have been a long time member of this board. I appreciate the uniqueness of the people here and could appreciate some insight.
Ahhh yes....women...
Last night after the Beyonce halftime show, my beautiful girlfriend turned to me and said, "would you pay for pole dancing lessons for me?"
I realize this would come as great news to most guys, but I welcomed it with equal parts horror and interest.
in the end....i said that I'm not sure that im ready for that. She was very surprised by this response and was very interested in knowing why. So...i decided to give her a straight forward answer as delicately as possible.
I told her that while I was certain that I would be the beneficiary of this, I was horrified at the thought of her displaying those skills in other realms.
You see...not that many years ago, she was quite accustomed to baring it all in front of men. Im not calling her a whore. I don't believe that she is. But she would get very drunk at times at clubs and find somewhere to dance naked and receive tips for it. I tried not to let this fact bother me, but last night exposed that it does. I believe she only did this a handful of times, but it really pains me to think about. what's worse is when she told me about it, she did so in a bragging way. It makes me believe this idea still appeals to her.
This is completely unrelated but I felt angry this morning as I dropped off HER daughter at school today. The incident has opened up some confusion and frustration for me.
There's more to the story than this....but I'd like to know if I have a right to feel the way that I do. I feel like most men would not respond this way.

I would like to welcome you all to the first post regarding the upcoming election. I will take this opportunity to thank James Lofton, Pride and Glory, and all the rest who participated in these discussions 4 years ago. Imagine 2008 if you will...the economy is losing hundreds of thousands of jobs per month, Sarah Palin has just been announced as John McCain's running mate, and the country on the cusp of a modern day great depression.
Let the games begin...
I have chosen one of the most interesting topics to kick off these discussions. It is also one that is near and dear to my heart. It is the topic of labor unions. It is also a topic that will be a significant factor in November's election.
What are the costs and benefits of labor unions to all parties involved? I often hear labor union members complain about paying their dues, or about the POS employee who does nothing, but is protected by his union.
More globally, labor unions allow members of a work force to actively participate in the capitalist experience. The cost of this is that labor because increasingly expensive. Free trade agreements such as NAFTA allow employers to send their jobs across borders to take advantage of countries that have less stringent laws protecting their labor force.
It's time for all of you to weigh in, folks...I'm anxious to hear some debate...

Whatever happened to James? I haven't posted in awhile but I do like to lurk.
About this time four years ago we engaged in heated political discussion regarding the upcoming (at the time) presidential election. I was hoping we might be able to do it again.
has anyone seen him? Or double talking jive?
My how things can change in just 4 years.

yeah how was it stored? leaning against a wall? face to the wall or back to the wall? in a guitar stand? in a guitar case?
i would say that you need to get it set up and while the guitar shop does that then they will put new stings on for ya
It was in a case standing upright in the hall. Are you saying I should take it to the shop and have them fix it up...or set it up as you called it?

thanks for the response.
It's an acoustic, and it was about $800. It does sound like a guitar pick is stuck in there, but there isn't one. The strings are the same ones it came with almost 2 years ago, so would assume that they didn't put strings on there that would harm it.
Could it have anything to do with the action? The guy I was getting lessons from always had to adjust it...said for some reason the guitar was sensitive.

Hey guys,
I am a novice guitar player who can strum a decent tune. Today, I opened up my guitar to play (it's been a few weeks) and I tried to play some open chords and noticed that anything played on the 1st fret sounded like it was badly muffled on some of the lower string, but it sounds fine in the b, and high g. There is no reason that I can see for why this would happen.
I am wondering if old strings do this after awhile? These strings are VERY old. Or if the weather changing has done something to my guitar that I don't know about.
Please...any help would be greatly appreciated.

No...I think that's exactly what you're saying...was it being married that you objected to? I don't quite get it...
What I saw you say before...and what you continue to say is...I did it...why can't everyone else? and if you can't...well you must have fucked up.
