#41 Re: Guns N' Roses » Will GNR release new music in 2021? » 215 weeks ago

the rumor is they owe the label one more album right? and they always dicked up the chinese democracy project in order to get slash back, right? well he's been back for years. is there no pressure from the label? why would a record label not want to release a record?

#45 Re: Guns N' Roses » We don't really expect a new setlist do we? » 215 weeks ago

so this had to be a nod to us hardcore fans, right? no other reason to play this. rolling stone won't cover it, and it won't boost ticket sales. if it is to hype up a new album, strange choice to start with. they did it before with chinese democracy and nobody cared - it was easily the most highly-panned song of the new stuff. atlas or hard skool are much stronger choices. saving them for later in the tour when his voice is better, maybe?

i guess the title really fits here. absurd, truly.

I can't tell yet whether this is a troll by the band or  seriously in contention for a new album?

I would assume the former, but it's alot of work to re-work it?

This is the weirdest thing imo involving this band in years.

It was fun and cool, but it's erm well Silkworms.

imagine if this is the lead single for the new album. axl

Intriguing indeed.

I think it's clear we are getting a new album but it seems it also seems pretty clear it's going to be reworked Chinese Leftovers... I'll take it

of all the songs to re-work, they went with silkworms? fucking awesome, but still... this is totally unexpected. fuck it!

It is absurd, pardon the pun. I was never a huge fan of the song and while it certainly sounded a little different, I still don’t love it. But it’s awesome to see them actually play something new. I’m sure the crowd was like WTF though. Such an odd choice, but I’ll take it.

lmao the crowd had no idea what was going on. why is axl yelling at me in a british accent?! 14

crazy how they kept they "pussy full of maggots" line, but 86'd the chorus. "what could i do, with a bitch like you?" was actually kind of a cool hook.

hopefully we get a full version of this on video. the stream cut just as it was heating up!

guessing they played this because it's something axl can still sing. he sounded pretty strong!

I don't really have anything against the Axl vocal on this one. It was a bit of a surprise when it first leaked ("okay, that's the direction he's going with it?") but it works for me.

there was an ashba-era show where he commented on this. in the middle of the set, he goes into a mini-rant mocking the hardcore fans who questioned his vocal approach on the song.

something along the lines of:

Axl: "I remember... seeing on the web, somebody said  'Why'd he have to sing that song with, like, an old man's voice?', it's like, maybe 'cause one of the influences was Hemmingway's "Old Man and The Sea", fucking, y'know, just by chance, I DON'T KNOW... but y'know, on the web, they know everything..."

imagine being a casual fan and hearing that. what in the world? you'd be so confused. what is he talking about? who is that h.i.m. guy dressed up as slash?

chinese democracy is an album that had thousands of instrumentals re-recorded, but axl was 1 and done when it came to the vocals. that's one of the most unreal aspects of the record - beaven said most of the vocals were his original takes from a hundred years ago. axl had his band going through dozens of combos of guitars and amps, and painted over everything to get the perfect sound... but couldn't be fucked to even get the right vocals down.

the live version from rio will always be the definitive version of this song. had a buddy burn it to a CD back in the day and fell in love with it immediately. the intro from axl made it special.
