I honestly don't believe anything the members say regarding the breakup of the band. Axl says the rest of the guys didn't like his musical direction. Axl said he wanted to make a more appetite like record, Slash said he wanted to but Axl wanted a different direction. Then theres Slash getting pissed about his guitar recordings on 'Sympathy for the Devil' and Axl hiring at firing people at personal will. Axl getting pissed because Slash released the material he had turned down a few months before.
I think theres no real answer as to whos fault it was. Just a long series of misunderstandings. If Slash and Axl could just talk and put that stuff behind them, then they'd be ok.

Can you believe Axl said that? I mean my god. I mean he hasn't put out a record. I don't know why he would say that. I mean who does he think he is? That's not very nice. The other guys, they have gotten over it and they're his friend now and they're willing to be his friend and he just needs to grow up.

I think Axl is coming to the end of his time of relevance, if he had released CD in 1999. he would have been highly relevant, then when a reunion happened sometime in this decade, that would also be highly releavant if CD was sucessful.
Now, Axl will be in his fifties by the time a reunion happens, if it does, they'll be just another band reuniting.

Axl cancelled in philly because he was watching a basketball game on TV, most likely the 76ers vs. Spurs. The sixers only lost by 5, Axl must have been entralled. The game must have ended around 11:30 or so.

Roy Thomas Baker's work on Queen's A Night at the Opera and the Darkness' One Way Ticket was awesome
