Wow...what a downer...
I appreciate the idea of prosecuting company's that buy the resources to sell to us, but I don't think it will work. I think Jimmy Carter went through a similar situation. He stopped selling (or was it buying?) lumber to a consumer out of ethical and moral reasons.
The result? In an economy that was already in bad shape, it cost the lumber industry many jobs, and caused many companies to shut down permanently.
Carter was considered a bad president, people lost jobs and the economy got even worse. I feel as thought something similar would happen in this case. When it comes right down to it, people really only care about buying things as cheap as they can get them.
#5092 Re: Guns N' Roses » Is "Sorry" Axl's F.U. to the fans? » 876 weeks ago
I would love to hear, from Axl's mouth, who this song is really about.
I thought it could be about reporters/ critics/ writers.....or Slash.
It's interesting that you say that...my buddy and I were just in the car last night wondering...where the hell is everybody?
Usually when a band releases an album...atleast someone is talking about it somewhere on the radio or tv. Axl Rose is no where to be found, and I don't see him appearing any time soon.
Maybe then he could comment on something...anything even. It would be nice to hear from the horses mouth about this album, wouldn't you agree?
#5093 Re: Guns N' Roses » Predictions: 1st week U.S. sales will be... » 876 weeks ago
yeah...this is really tough to judge...as russtcb points out...
In a time where too many music fans feel like they don't have to pay for their music or buy one song off of an album through itunes, the situation is set up for the album sales to fail miserably...
It's just such a different time compared to the last time this band released an album.

my journey to best buy was glorious as well...
i was at first disapointed by a fan who picked up the album and looke at it for about 4 minutes...
he then put it down and i thought...ouch!...because I sat around the stand for awhile waiting for my brothers to pick it up...
I then talked to the cashier who told me that she was tired of scanning this album today...LOL
made my day!!!!

Oh I wanted to also say thank you to the people who run this board...for without whom I would have been cast away from the site that shall not be named...meaning I would have no Gn'R family.
Thanks you guys for bustin' your asses (even you Lofton, lol) and making sure this site stayed alive after the original one disappeared.
You said it yourself, the site changed, but the people were the same. I've been reading posts from a lot of you for years.
Thanks for being my Gn'R family!!!
#5096 Re: Guns N' Roses » Happy CD Day » 877 weeks ago
congrats you guys...I've never been a very vocal member of the board...but this day is really special and only something that real GN'R fans could understand.
I remember discovering this album in high school. I am now 26. It's only been 10 years for me...but all the memories and conversations and band supporting/defending make us all invested in this album in one way or another.
I just can't believe it's finally here. Congrats guys...I'm glad I had you all to share it with.

You'll have to explain to me what you mean by not running on a credit card...that's really interesting...considering the country was never so in debt as it was before Reagon...
He CREATED the government credit card...
#5098 Re: The Garden » Knives out for Palin: McCain aides tell tales of Diva » 877 weeks ago
This is nothing but McCain's aides covering their own asses. Remember they still want to get jobs, and if they can pass the buck to someone else, that helps them.
She didnt know Africa was a continent? Give me a break. She is NOT stupid.
Palin was the ONLY reason the Republican base ever got excited. Without her, McCain would have gotten beat even worse.
Reagon was a great president? I can't think of anything that fantastic that he ever did...he was average...
just because you throw shit at the wall and some of it sticks doesn't mean you're a fantastic president

Communist China wrote:You guys gotta learn to trust statistics and polling. It's not like they're calling a state with 3 votes turned in because it's 2-1, it's because of accurate exit polling. I know we've been fucked over by premature numbers before, but we will continually improve at gaging public opinion and polling, and even if they did call it wrong at first - not like they can't fix it later. The media calling states early doesn't mean those states can't turn out different and be changed.
If you don't like it, go to bed. The finals will be in when you wake up.
the problem with them calling it early is that it demoralizes those who would vote otherwise. If I was out west or if my state was still open to vote, why bother going out if Obama is gonna win
I think you're wrong, man...the don't call states 'till their polls have closed
