Most interesting thing in this thread? There were casual Velvet Revolver fans.
Much missed potential in VR, I'll say.

Didn't mention Slash or Duff.
All hell would've broken loose behind the scenes if he would've.

Coachella already sold out and I don't think GN'R had anything to do with it.
Media exposure is another. If Coachella sports separate lineups, an AFD 5 is brought out after the initial airing of the hybrid to state the case.
Applying Occam's Razor... I'm pretty sure that they're just going to go with the established touring machine that Axl's already put together
I'm fairly certain we'll end up with that after the dust settles.

Do you really want the first time we see Axl and Slash to be with the nu guns or with a dash of history by doing the AFD/UYI eras.... ?
Money talks, put it that way.
Sequelizing the reunion as
first, Axl & Slash (with Duff)
then, the AFD 5,
gives Coachella more for their money.
The other way, the 2nd night is lesser.

In fact, it would be out of character for GNR to repeat themselves.
This first show will be a big draw, either way.
How to hype the second show as much?
Make it bigger.

My theory is there will be two bands... The "touring band" and the Coachella lineup.
I buy that, altered.
Day 1: Hybrid.
Day 2: AFD 5.

A Guns N' Roses reunion for the event had previously been confirmed to Billboard via multiple sources, marking the first show for the band with co-founders Axl Rose and Slash since 1993. The legendary rock band will perform Saturday night.
The only thing I know "confirmed" is my LOVE of Taco Bell!
I was just informed by mgmt to not acknowledge anything about coachella, gnr, etc. So there, denied!
Axl gives insight to his diet, there. Aside that, Guns are set to play in Coachella.
This is the sole information given on both Guns' and Coachella's websites.
Both utilize the Illusion-era logo. Refers to Axl and Dizzy. If Dizzy's still in.
Of course, Slash and Duff promote the same gig in the social media.
Has either yet gone out and explicitly said, 'Happy to be in Guns again'?
Both have stonewalled, yet implied to the point of parody that they're back.
Now, it's build-your-own-rumour time. Axl can stay home and cause trouble afar.
All the deals every which way may have been drawn out by now and NDAs effective.
Axl would totally love that situation, to have benefit of control and self-imposed exile.
Laughing at the world as it calls him back.

The new video is stonking, btw.

Bowie beamed up. Sad, but he finished the job with new albums.

Hi Annie,
Nice press release!
The trio of Kushner, McKagan and Slash formed the powerful musical center of Velvet Revolver, and already have built-in collaborative chemistry.
Fortus and Ferrer, meanwhile, are ferocious players who have been in bands together off-and-on for two decades (notably in the ’90s project Love Spit Love with Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butler) and have been in GNR since 2006. Because of this long-term musical relationship—both with each other and with Rose, Reed and Pitman—Fortus and Ferrer are a solid, grounding presence within the band, reliable performers who keep the energy high and avoid drama.
The only part that worries is Rose, the singer who fell out of shape by the late 2011 touring cycle and has been struggling to reach his earlier level since. Funny you missed it, in an otherwise exhaustively researched and well-written piece.
But it’s not 1991 anymore, and trying to capture that era’s lightning in a bottle would be a mistake, if not a disrespectful gesture to both fans and the current lineup.
I agree, it would be embarrassing.
In an era full of carefully strategized gestures, Rose is a throwback rock star who doesn’t care about massaging his public persona; in fact, he guards his privacy fiercely and surfaces on Twitter only occasionally to tweet about animal rights and world affairs, or to unleash an emoji explosion.
He's the resident troll of hard rock, yes. That's a good one for his carefully strategized gestures. Be it three album-plans he revealed nigh 15 years ago or lashing out to discussion forum moderators.
But he will talk, eventually. As dexter, if none other.
In fact, it would be out of character for GNR to repeat themselves.
Awesome.
