#541 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR playing Hockenheimring/Germany in July » 532 weeks ago

There's a few reports on Glastonbury, but the headliners there have there booked for at least six months, with Adele being a possible amendment to one of them in November (probably Prince who they supposedly book every year and he cancels every year). They also are unlikely to pay anywhere near what GN'R are asking of festivals. Stranger things have happened, but there has not been any chatter at all like we had with the Coachella thread.

Thanks very much. Great news

So it looks like we are on the right tack for Europe. North America until the end of June, July it moves to Europe. Great stuff

I note AEG is a sponsor and has ties to the venue, so that's good.

I think AC/DC are playing stand alone shows at the Etihad and Olympic stadiums next year. Could they be possible UK venues?

I think standalone shows are equally as viable.

I am not sure about the Olympic stadium. AEG went into that with Tottenham Hotspur with a plan for the stadium, but it fell through. They may avoid it. The Etihad in Manchester is a good option. The ACDC concert you mentioned is listed on their website (whereas the Olympic Park one isn't) so if GN'R play Manchester, the Etihad looks a likely option.

More on the Coachella radius clause http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_b … r-all.html

For Coachella, run by our city's own Goldenvoice, multiple managers have confirmed that the radius clause takes effect when the contract is inked, meaning that if a band signs on for Coachella in January, it cannot play the Los Angeles market again until about 30 days after the festival concludes.

So theoretically speaking, GN'R can play another LA date 30 days after the festival ends. We still also have this Roxy anomaly. The small, normally chatty, Goldenvoice venue is still quiet.

On other headliners, people are still strong on Calvin Harris alongside a famous female singer. A few people still think Adele. GN'R are supposedly playing on the Saturday, although I would have thought Sunday would be better.

As for the Las Vegas date, I have spoken to a friend who promotes in the US, and he thinks the date will be April due to how tours there are organised. If GN'R are to play BST Hyde Park, it would probably be Friday 1st July, so 24 dates and Canada would need to be done by then. I have asked someone who knows more about Reading asking if they would pay the 5-6 million pounds GN'R would expect for a festival date. I do not think they would pay that, but who knows. The Sun are still strong on Slane for Ireland. Roskilde appears to be the only other festival that GN'R could play financially. There would have to be some give and take for Rock in Rio and other festivals

South American dates are usually played March/April or October time by GN'R looking at their historical dates, so there is nothing to say they will go straight to S America after N America. It looks as though it will be Europe after the US, then the rest of the world.

How about the casuals that will jump back on the bandwagon?  I guess we embrace them but I wear my 20,000 posts spread over many GNR forums badge with honor.  This is MY BAND.  Everyone else's "band" tours and puts out music.  Mine has been pretty much dead since 1994.  I finally get to feel what other fans do.

Enjoy the moment smile

Consequence of Sound are saying it too (The Matt Sorum news), link added to previous post

They were the ones who broke the news about Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo

It's Billboard, they would only say if they were sure. You want that final confirmation from the band or Paul Tollett, but alot of people at AEG will know.

Guns N’ Roses, with founding members Axl Rose and Slash, will headline the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., set for April 15-17 and April 22-24, according to multiple sources. The band is also tapped to be one of the first acts to play the new Las Vegas Arena, which is set to open April 6 with The Killers and Wayne Newton. Additionally, the reunited band is negotiating with promoters to play as many as 25 football stadiums in North America in the summer of 2016. The band is said to be asking as much as $3 million per show, with tickets topping out in the $250-$275 range.

The last show Axl Rose and Slash played together was on July 17, 1993 at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires. The band's last tour, which only included Axl Rose from the original lineup, took place primarily in South America and The Joint in Las Vegas, grossing $15.2 million.

The band's first album, Appetite for Destruction, is the biggest-selling debut in U.S. history, with 18 million sold. It spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and launched the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single "Sweet Child O' Mine." They have sold 44.5 million albums total in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Slash Opens Door to Guns N' Roses Reunion

Representatives for the band, as well as Coachella producer Paul Tollett and agent Ken Fermaglich at United Talent Agency, could not be reached for comment. Executives at AEG, which will operate the new Vegas arena, also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Duff McKagan on Substance Abuse, Fatherhood and the Possibility of a Guns N' Roses Reunion

Billboard's confirmation comes on the heels of two rumor-inducing hints dropped over the past week, the first a cryptic update to the Guns N' Roses website and the second during, of all things, screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where footage of a concert crowd was shown with GN'R music overdubbed. Though longtime fans may be understandably wary after the decade-plus wait for Chinese Democracy, which became a totem of sorts to frontman Axl Rose's sometimes unpredictable behavior, the reunion appears to be fully in gear.

Tommy Stinson on Guns N' Roses' Future: 'I Really Have No Idea What's Going On'

Coachella has a pedigree for coaxing much-loved acts out of retirement, or being the linchpin to plans that had already been simmering. The fest has previously hosted the reunions of Rage Against The Machine in 2007, My Bloody Valentine in 2009, Pulp in 2012 and Outkast in 2014 -- not to mention Tupac's posthumous return to the stage in 2012. Guns N' Roses will arrive a year after two other legendary acts, AC/DC and Steely Dan, headlined the 2015 edition.

Oh well, Billboard have filled in the rest

Coachella is confirmed, as is the prospect of a US tour. It's 3 million for individual concerts which makes more sense.

I think we can sit back now and watch smile
