Rock isn't cool or new anymore. The same thing happened to Jazz. But Jazz was intellectual and so went underground and pulled an intellectual crowd. Rock music doesn't have that kind of fanbase.
I think the top bands in the world today, like Metallica and Ac/Dc are held in too much reverence by the younger bands. That keeps younger bands from ever trying to reach the top. IMHO

I want this. I want this more than Ahab wanted that albino-fish.
Ughh this is excellent. Back in black.
That would not be out of place on Superunknown

Bullshit.
This idiot is the kind of fool who wants to have a drug addiction to augment is ridiculous identity. There's nothing more rock n roll than beings strung out after all.
It's all bullshit. He's a fool.
I like a bunch of Green Day songs and basically all of Dookie and Warning, but they seem like douchebags. Jon Bon Jovi also seems like a douchebag, for the record. And I like a bunch of his songs too. Never exactly sure what "real" means other than something that sticks out, like, geographically (for example, STP isn't "real" grunge because they're from San Diego, where there's no unhappiness, instead of Seattle, which is underwater).

The truth is that both bands are fake - Jovi isn't a rock band any more than Green Day is a punk band. They are both pop acts. Always have been. It's not that I dislike Jovi...I just prefer Green Day. It may be as simple as my little brother was a huge fan and I got sick of hearing it as a kid.
True.
That said. Jovi are the better pop band.
As a bad amateur guitar player, I love me some Green Day that I can just strum the hell out of to get out some frustration...it's one of the few bands that I can cover pretty much anything they put out on guitar. I don't play guitar to be good...it's usually a stress release for me.
I think youll find the god amateur guitar players like their Jovi

Beta's been around long enough to know the ropes, and GNR is too big a business to be used to 'rehearse' your way into the management industry.
I like the most recent efforts, but don't cut them that 'new kids' slack. They did essentially blackmail Axl to give in and appoint Team Brazil.
They blackmailed him? How-so?

It may seem some of these reactions are overboard, but they make perfect sense.
People don't relate with suicide because of fear. There is an assumption some people make that if you can relate with someone who killed themselves or feel compassion for them, you are more likely to do it yourself. By demonizing suicide, people push it away and brand it as something they would never do.
It takes a lot to look at a suicide without any bias because at the back of our heads we always have that gnawing worry that if we understand why the person did it, we'll feel they were justified, and given similar circumstances would feel justified ourselves.
... rant over
