#5671 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Chart Positions Thread » 906 weeks ago
The only thing I see as dated on Chinese is the crappy hip hop beats of Madagascar, and the beats at the beginning of TWAT and IRS....Those clearly date to the rap/metal of the mid to late 90's. The beats are beyond weak and should have been filled in with live drumming by Brain. After that, I like most all of the keyboards, synths, and orchestration. Mother fucking Goose!:haha:

we have no clue who will show up the next time the "Gnr" brand tours.

Richard is now denying that he said this....from Jarmo....
A clarification on the subject:
"OK, it seems that I am being misquoted once again. I never said that Gn'R would be playing St. Louis, nor did i say that we will be doing free shows or that we are starting a 2 year tour in March! Selective hearing. Never said it. "

the wheels on the bus go round and round, I prefer no talking by any new Gnr members.

Street of Dreams....to me, the only song on the record that sounds like the old band...which isn't good for this album. Finck's solo just doesn't do it for me...one of two times on the album where I wish Slash was playing. (the other being This I Love-for the record).

depends on what you like in regards to post Gnr material...
The Jimi Hendrix Experience's 3 studio albums were Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland. 3 drop dead classics released in a 2 year period. EVERY critic in rock music history will tell you Hendrix's catalog of recorded, finished material is astounding for the time he was around. It is obvious you have never fully listened to Hendrix or you would't be talking like that. I am not even going to get in to the song Machine Gun from Band of Gypsys which I consider to be the greatest guitar song of all time.

as a reference and I could go find 50 more if you want.....but to call Hendrix's catalog weak is an INSANE comment.
#15, #54, and #82 on that particular list of greatest albums.

So does Hendrix. Actually, a case could be made that he only has one.
Don't even remotely compare Slash to Hendrix in any way....I am being serious about that. Songwriting ability, playing, influence, style...in every way Hendrix exceeds Slash.
and for the record, Buzz wins, SCOM and Jungle are Slash's most "legendary" moments and most memorable riffs. I didn't say his best performances.
Smoking, a guitar God is not defined by solos, he is defined by being the entire package. Songwriting, rhythm, influence, solos, presence....everything. I don't need a Joe Perry/Jimmy Page knockoff solo in every song.
Finally, outside of a few solos here and there, I still say that Slash hasn't been very good ever since Izzy bailed. Left to his own devices, Slash becomes pretty average in my opinion. (I know you can say the same about Axl and Izzy for that matter, but we are not talking about them). Sorry, it is just my opinion and AGAIN, it doesn't mean I don't love Slash or the old Gnr.

when ever I think Mr Tophat is a great "rocker", I just watch something like this...

but, hey, I know, this guy could never write a track like Be The Ball.
#5679 Re: Guns N' Roses » Dave Navarro on Chinese » 906 weeks ago
ruffled some feathers with that one...guess all you want..don't talk about Mr Guitar Hero....:haha::smile: I'm not kidding, I could name ten more guitar players who shit all over Slash. It doesn't mean I don't like Slash. It just means I don't think he is the end all be all of rock guitar players.

In my eyes, Slash isn't a guitar God either. I reserve that classification for people like Hendrix, Clapton, Duane Allman, Townsend, Page, Richards, David Gilmour etc. Slash has two truly legendary songs and that is it.
