So, this could be a standalone GN'R advert or a GN'R at Coachella advert

Would they really go this far just to have it be a festival announcement? Yeah Coachella is the big enchilada but that's going a bit far IMO.

I take it as simply letting the world know in a big way that its coming. I don't think its promoting anything other than the fact more promo is coming.  Its 'Round 1'....

If Coachella is anything like other big festivals and I'm assuming it is given its size then it will sell out whoever is there. Aside from announcing the headliners there's no other promo needed beyond the norm, which this certainly isn't. Why burn up cash on teaser promos for an event that would be full regardless?

That is GNR promo, not Coachella, imo.

A GH2 to support shows would make most sense at this stage. Throw a couple of new tracks on there and it sells like hot cakes.

I hate getting my hopes up where GNR are concerned. It usually ends in disappointment.

With that said, this is some exciting shit!

I've said it again and now that it's imminent I won't change my opinion.

A reunion makes me lose much of the respect I have for Axl. Especially now. It seems the worse (1998~CD RELEASE) has passed so it's even worse on my book to do it now.

Just a bunch of old men cashing in retirement plans.

I get all the excitement around it and I'll probably try to get to one concert, but just for the nostalgia act.

Depends, if they only tour then yeah it's a cash grab but you could argue most if the CD era was too. At least this would be with the guys who wrote the songs. Whilst not young guys anymore, they're still young enough to put on a good show, it shouldn't look ridiculous.

Their age and time apart means any serious success or impact with new music will be limited but I hold out hope they've still got a good album in them.

This would be extremely weird.

It'd be better than Download, but Hyde Park doesn't exactly play to the types that would be there to see Gun's N Roses. I can't imagine Guns's headline a pop festival with Take That and UK pop acts.

In 2014 though they had a rock night I guess with Black Sabbath, Soundgarden. In 2015 though The Who were the only Rock act on the entire show.

Stones have played it before but you're right. The Pimms and prawn sandwich brigade this festival would attract is not the right crowd for GNR.

Coachella -> Summer Euro festivals -> Autumn US tour

Perhaps?

How do these things normally work? Do venues approach bands/promoters or the other way round?
