#591 Re: Guns N' Roses » Riyadh and the Bedouins leak » 934 weeks ago
Of the three new leaks this is by far my favorite. I finally got to listen to them loud and proper in my ride and these leaks are hit and miss. I dont like new song #2 very much (no fuckin' way that is Prostitute...I'm POSITIVE), Riyadh I really like and If The World grew on me.
Bucket is fucking killing on these songs! Riyadh turned out even better than I had anticipated from the few boots. If he isn't left on Chinese Democracy (proper) then Axl is either crazy or had no choice in the matter.

Can someone post the picture of the fake set list from gunsnroses.com? I'm having trouble locating it and would love to see it again.:mosh:
THe one that had "If The World" on it?

This is gonna go down as one of those interesting threads that died because a leak happened.
I'm kidding.
But you aren't far off the mark James!! It's hard to talk about anything else when FINALLY we have real GNR news again. So...BUMP!! I know we have had some new sign ups here at Evolution so cast your votes everyone. Hagar is getting KILLED!! 9-1 as of now. Although I agree with the votes everyone needs to have a say so that is a VH fan one way or the other. Rock the Vote!! (insert Jessica Simpson pic in a patriotic tiny bikini eating a hot dog and waving a flag)

If this is pretty much the album it's ok, not great but does have moments. I still kind of believe what we have heard was to keep interest somewhat alive and there is a strong possibility that there may be stronger tracks waiting. Just an opinion.
Speaking of which, what could be left that we know of? If I'm guessing right:
Sorry
The General
Thyme
This I LoveCorrect?
Well over the years there have been tons of rumoured tracks. I really don't remember all the names. Prostitute (of course...and no I do NOT believe #2 is Prostitute)/Oklahoma/Something Always/CockaRoach Soup (something like that)/Zip It/Friend or Foe/Suckerpunched...there's plenty more if I could think of them. Something Always is one I would REALLY like to hear, has a ring to the title I like.

Glad you are ok man, I wondered where the hell you were at!! Last time anything cool in the GNR world happened I remember we both just kept typing "lol" after nearly every sentence like nervous school kids!! We were both on the verge of "the big one" I think only to end up hearing Axl say NOTHING!
When CD comes out PLEASE noone let James know until I have had a chance to get him a couple of valiums!!

These demos(all of them) shit all over VR in my opinion.
Its not even close.
I agree 100% on this remark.
T.W.A.T./Better/The Blues/Chinese Democracy ... these are SOLID even if some of the other leaks are mediocre. I like I.R.S. myself and find it better than anything VR did on two full albums, the only exception being "Slither". Even the new leaks are better than VR's efforts. I'm not a huge fan of If The World for example but the writing, singing (Axl sounds GREAT) and production make it at least a real effort rather than just a group of very talented people coming together to do extremely mediocre, half hearted and half realized songs that wouldn't even be decent "b-sides" for the most part.

I dont' think it is prostitute. In fact I'm almost certain.

Van Halen are one of the VERY FEW groups who could survive losing their frontman and still being very successful. Our last showdown (Bon Scott vs Brian Johnson) was another one of those few who could weather such a blow.
David Lee Roth era Van Halen in my opinion is simply magic.
The Argument/proof:
Running With the Devil/Jamie's Cryin'/Take Your Whiskey Home/Mean Street/Dance the Night Away/Somebody Get Me a Doctor/D.O.A./Dirty Movies/Mean Street/Secrets/Panama/Drop Dead Legs/House of Pain/Me Wise Magic.... these are just a FEW of the many great tunes while Roth fronted the band.
I always found it interesting that Eddie "remembered" he is actually a living guitar legend when Roth is in the group but seems to kind of forget that without him.
However...the Hagar era was very strong itself and one could easily argue that while the music wasn't as heavy and "pure rock" the writing was vastly improved.
Some examples:
Dreams/Why Can't This Be Love/Summer Nights/Love Walks In/A.F.U. (Naturally Wired)/Mine All Mine/Sucker in a 3 Piece/When It's Love/Poundcake/Runaround/Right Now/Top of the World/The Sevent Seal/Can't Stop Lovin' You/Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)/Humans Being/Not Enough/Learning to See.... Not a bad resume for 'Ol Hagar either.
One thing I found odd when listing some of these songs was the fact that David was with VH, was fired, came back and did two new songs (Me Wise Magic and You Can't Get This Stuff No More) on a greatest hits album, departed again and is now back with VH, although Michael Anthony sadly has been replaced.
Sammy was with VH, was fired, came back and did three new songs (Up For Breakfast/Learning To See/It's About Time) on a greatest hits album, departed again...will he reappear after the tour is over with Roth?
So...cast your vote for the best VH frontman of all time...Roth or Hagar. If you choose Cherone be sure to expect alot of rubbing from everyone here!
