Not remotely interested in this myself but I know a couple of people who've seen it already and really liked it fwiw.

I may be the only one but I actually didn't mind the guy.

Did a job and seemed to enjoy being there. Was he a mind blowing guitarist, no, but neither was Finck.

If we're witch hunting people who fuck up Patience btw I'd start with the singer.

I also always liked this

To me, this is the issue. We shouldn't be fixing this. The non-radical Muslims should. Anything we say is racist in the twisted pc world that we live in. They need to out the radicals. They need to defend the Islam they claim is not supporting the radicals.

That's what I tried to say, just a lot less long winded 16

I'm not even convinced it's much to do with islam. It's an excuse or an ideology for lunatics to get behind, they now have a banner under which they can claim their actions have a cause. I think it's become a cultural movement and as such attracts a certain type of person to it simply because others are doing it, not because that is the way of islam.

In the 80's in the UK there was a massive issue with football violence. Each team had a 'firm' and they would meet up with the firm of whoever their club was playing that Saturday, beat the shit out of each other and destroyed whichever high street they were on. Was this because these guys felt so passionate about their club that they needed to half kill anyone who supported another team? No, they just loved a good tear up and were able to do so under the banner of being a 'football hooligan' because it allowed them to be a psycho with a cause, football itself had very little to do with it. For me this is the same sort of thing, a banner under which the aggrieved and misguided can justify their actions.

The solution in my humble opinion lies largely with the other 99.9% of the muslim community. Like with the football, nobody thought the clubs or vast majority of supporters condoned the behaviour but it was still their clubs name being dragged through the mud and as such had to very publically work to eliminate the hooligan element at their clubs. So that's what they did, work with the police and rooted out the hooligans and cut them out of football all together.

I think the same solution applies to a degree here but the PC brigade are getting in the way. No, the islamic faith does not have to apologise for the acts of a few crazies but it doesn't mean they shouldn't anyway. Most people are intelligent enough to realise IS don't represent the vast vast majority of muslims. Unfortunately it's irrelevant because islams name is being dragged through the mud regardless. At the moment, to the wrong kind of mind IS offers something fashionable to march with. The world and the muslim faith particularly need to work together on this to show it has nothing to do with islam, they're just another set of hooligans and that the cause they supposedly fight for despises them as much as everyone else. Remove the banner under which they march.

Therefore in my view calling for a blanket ban on muslims entering the country is alienating the very people we should be working with.

#605 Re: Guns N' Roses » The story of the 3 good songs » 544 weeks ago

Whilst I would love to have been a fly on the wall after Bob Ezrin had told Axl his 3 only good songs were Slash tracks, I see only the number 3 as the linking factor. How many tracks did Ezrin listen to, was it all of what was then CD ie 12-13 songs or the whole vault? We'll never know but statistically the odds seem stacked against a Slash clean sweep.

It would be interesting to know what became of the Slash tracks though. Maybe the skeleton of the track went on to become a VR or Slash solo song. Would it be possible they got so tinkered with that they turned up on CD minus any Slash writing credits?

I think the lack of anyone coming out and shutting this rumour down is key. Axl has spent a long time trying to build up a new Slashless band. If a reunion is not the focus then it's a potentially very damaging mixed message the general public will be getting. It would make sense for someone to shut this snowballing rumour down and yet all we have is silence.

Combine that with the fact that lots of Axl/Slash associates seem to think it's happening and I'm guessing they don't trawl the GnR boards for news.

It all points towards something. As you say it could still be in the maybe stages. I imagine there's a lot of shit to iron out, but it all points at reunion over CD II imo.

There is just no way, ever, Axl just gives up on CD II. I just don't see it. I would go even further and say any deal about any kind of reconciliation would include a deal for CD II's release. I would imagine if Slash wants to rejoin the band he would work on the album.

I didn't say he'd given up on it, just the signs point to a reunion over CD II at this moment in time.

If Slash comes in and starts reworking on it then it becomes a whole new beast anyway imo. No chance does he come in just to 'do a Ron' and noodle over some decade old BH parts. If Slash starts playing around with the songs we get a whole new album effectively.

GH is what got me into GnR in the first place.

I suppose the die hards were waiting on CD, a GH would have been a kick in the teeth even then.

#609 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Twitter Updates » 545 weeks ago

They tried to stop GH in 04 as well didn't they?

No wonder they didn't want another one coming out two years later. Especially as new GnR were making progress in 06.

That was my thoughts as well, although Slash seemingly clearing his schedule for 2016 is an interesting move.
