#611 Re: GN'R Downloads » GNR "Sweet Lorraine" ? » 935 weeks ago
Its supposed to be an old NR demo. Never had the record with that on it so cant confirm that firsthand.
I have the record and I can confirm you are correct James. If you have heard the "guitar version" of November Rain you have heard Sweet Lorraine.
If you haven't heard this, then you have now: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6PTELBBK

#613 Re: The Sunset Strip » Kiss Plans Reality Show To Find Replacements For The Whole Band » 935 weeks ago
Whether people like 'em or hate 'em (which has ALWAYS been the case) they have left a legacy. Only the Beatles have more gold albums. There are some Kiss albums I love some I think are crap but they definitely have had some solid stuff.
I don't have a problem with a KISS II as Paul said (as long as the music was solild and it was only a one-off type of thing) but a "replacement KISS" would really tarnish what the band has acheived and whether you like the or hate them...their acheivements are fact, not opinion.

Here's something that worries me....at what point does Axl give up and snap?

That's already happened in my opinion.

Obama would be wise to take Edwards.
McCain taking Powell would be brilliant.

I never attended this but DAMN I would have loved to. Classic VH is some of the purest rock n roll dope ever made!
#619 Re: The Garden » Obama says Iraq war makes US, Israel less secure » 936 weeks ago
We are all sick of this war. No argument at all but hindsight is 20/20. The problem is the answer is not for someone to act like it was just a bad dream, fluff their pillow, turn off the light and go to bed hoping to wake to a nicer reality. Expecting to simply leave Iraq and go back "if needed" is just that. Obama is just trying to tuck the covers and hope for the best. Sounds great but it's not reality.
McCain is NOT my ultimate choice for president although I do like a moderate much better than a an extreme conservative. Extreme polars are NOT the answer to fix today's problems. McCain has experience, a decent track record in voting for what's best and not for public opinion or a stepping stone for personal gain.
I wanted to like Obama, I REALLY did. CHANGE is very pleasing in times like this but not all change is good. Sometimes you need an adult to come in and fix what the kid fucked up. McCain is the adult here, Obama is the idealist.

This will be #1 of an ongoing bi-weekly "showdown" series. The question and choices for each showdown will be left for two weeks and the winner announced at the end of this two week period. After the winner of the respective showdown is announced the next showdown will start! Should be fun! Once you have made your choice and casted your vote give your "argument" as to why you chose as you did.
I choose Bon Scott hands down.
Why? Both Bon and Brian had the "right" voice for the band and both had some staples in the history of all-time best rock albums. Brian Johnson's Magnum Opus with the group would be Back in Black while I would say Bon Scott's was Highway to Hell.
Comparing the two albums I would probably give a slight edge to Back in Black although both are definitely solid. The deciding factor for my choice of Bon however goes beyond the "best AC/DC" record, it came down to the catlogue under each frontman.
In my opinion only two records really were excellent with Brian, those being Back in Black and The Razor's Edge. Back in Black was pure gold but it took exactly a decade for AC/DC to put out another album that was anywhere near the brilliance of Back in Black. In between there were a couple of decent albums but nothing amazing. For Those About To Rock was as close as a "solid album" they came up with in between 1980's Back in Black and 1990's Razor's Edge. Since then what have they really done...I can't remember either. Enough said.
With Bon Scott you have the excellent Let There Be Rock, High Voltage, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Powerage, Highway to Hell and one of my top ten best live albums of all time, If You Want Blood...You
Got It. None of these top Brian Johnson's Back in Black (or possibly even The Razor's Edge) but ALL of these are BETTER than anything else AC/DC has ever done and they did this in a period of about 5 years. Six VERY solid albums in five years with Bon vs two solid albums with Brian in 28 years!
Bon wins easily in my mind.
