Coming out or not coming out aside, this might be the only time we see this on any internal release schedule. I would imagine Azoff and the label want to keep the release date as secretive as possible, for as long as possible. The last time I chatted with a few who are deeply embedded in the industry they claim GNR camp and Universal are still at odds. The label wants a reunion prior to releasing Axl's opus, believing sales would double and fans would be more forgiving and open to the album if a reunion happened prior to the release. Makes sense in a weird way. Obviously, the label also understands the predicament Axl is in, but are less forgiving as they gave him the option to keep funding for the project even if he changed the bands name or produced it as a solo effort. In hindsight, either of those options would have been the way to go--as he now risks tarnishing the GNR brand, and the label knows it. The label has put their best offer on the table, and they are not budging. No one in the know blames them.
DISCLAIMER--this is based upon a chat with folks who do work in the industry, but are not by any means privy to the very private negotiations between Azoff and Iovine. From what I gather, barely anyone at Universal or Frontline have a clue, as the negotiations are very proprietary in nature.
did you quote that from the Velvet Rope.....:peace::butt:

thread jack. ..screw Chinese Food, go buy a real album...one of my favorite albums ever is being re released on 9-23.....from the liner notes of Pleased to Meet Me, about Tommy....
But he saves his highest praise for Tommy, repeating his oft-quoted statement: "People say Keith Richards is the living embodiment of rock 'n' roll. Well, I know 'em both and Tommy Stinson is rock 'n' roll."
He elaborates: "Tommy may be my favorite musician I've ever worked with. Y'see, Keith remembers music before rock 'n' roll, as do I. It was like a conscious choice for Keith. But Tommy, as he told me, never even made a decision to be a bass player. Bob put it in his hand and then kept on him until he played it. And he just is rock 'n' roll '” the whole fiber of his being, man. That's all he is. He ain't nothing else. It gives me faith in humanity to know Tommy Stinson."
Together, Dickinson and the 'Mats created a rock 'n' roll classic '” an album some have compared to Exile On Main Street. Tim may have included some greater songs ("He didn't bring me an anthem," Dickinson still complains about Westerberg to this day), but Pleased To Meet Me is arguably the band's most consistent record. It flows together like a concept album, all of the band's heroes, influences and ghosts coming to roost in one place '” though it certainly isn't a concept album.
Many critics of the era predicted big things for the disc, assuming the Replacements were poised to become "the American Rolling Stones." Unfortunately, it wouldn't be until another up-and-coming rocker borrowed the title "Nevermind" for his own breakthrough moment that the album's influence became fully realized.

a quote from the liner notes about Tommy....I hope a Gnr fan will ever read this slice of heaven

well, technically, everything is full of shit and meaningless until a formal announcement is made. Mysteron's comments do disturb me a little though.

Why can't people for once put their prejudices and bias aside, objectively look at the situation, and simply realize that this is the closest we have ever been. We have never had this many legit sources outside of the band claiming the album truly is in "the pipeline" for release. It doesn't mean it will happen, but it damn sure is close.

My point is that the entire Us economy is based on loaning money at any cost. Just pump more money in to it, let people spend more on shit they don't need and then, when they can't pay for the shit they don't need, bail them out. It is fucked and it is based on greed and materialism. It is out of control. It really has nothing to do with Democrat or Repulican but more to do with Rich vs Poor.
#6338 Re: Guns N' Roses » FBI Arrest of GnR Blogger Backfires » 921 weeks ago
this whole thread is just ridiculous...seriously. Nothing backfired on anybody. Nobody gives a flying fuck about Gnr leaks or this Skwerl guy. But, hey, you can listen to a new Gnr song in a video game that costs $80.......wow, what a deal. Almost as good as having to buy one song for $15 on a shitty soundtrack. Azoff is a genius....Axl is a genius. Brutal, and just thumbing through the main topics on the Gnr board makes me ill.
#6339 Re: The Garden » White House says No More Bailouts » 921 weeks ago
Bush is an idiot....the Fed just pumped 70 billion in to "helping Wall St".....which is basically just like a sub prime loan....giving money to people and/or corporations who can't afford to pay their bills. Fuck those huge Wall St corporations and all these bullshit banks. Let them fold. Our whole economy is based on spending and illusion....it is just so fucked. House of Cards and the crumbling of the modern day Roman Empire.

well, exactly. Again, that is why I have always said just put the entire record or actually, just put everything you have out. Fuck it. Go for broke. Chances are there is some great stuff out of all the tracks recorded. After all this time and with all the changes in the music industry, throw caution to the wind and drop it all. Upstage everybody...but no, let's put one fucking track out and take a 100% wild fucking guess at what the public wants. JUST PLAIN STUPID.
