I think it says a lot when IRS which is nothing more than a fairly generic rocker with a cool scream and nice guitar noodle at the end makes it, rightly, to the final 5.

Not watched in a little while bit I remember thinking the final couple of seasons felt a bit dialled in.

Interesting reading the theories above on 'that' final scene, don't think I ever offered an opinion at the time.

Hidden Text:

I think Tony dies, for me it's clear and that final black shot is from Tony's pov. Doesn't someone even say to him earlier in the season when talking about being shot dead that you probably don't even hear the shot.

As for all the focus on Meadow I think it's as much practicality as symbolism. Think back to the seating plan and assuming Tony is shot by the guy who goes to the toilet, if Meadow is sat in the vacant seat then she's right in the firing line and the guy no longer has a clean shot. By being late the guy has a clear shot at Tony from the doorway. I'm sure there's some symbolism wrapped up in that but imo the main focus on Meadow being late is that if she had been on time the hit on Tony probably couldn't have happened. Not cleanly anyway.

Oh it was destined for CD. Every mythical track made it to the album. It was a few years later when song titles like The General, Atlas Shrugged, etc. reached that status.

Would have to check whispers but I would say most of the 'mythical' tracks were kept off CD. Of the Big Guns people used to refer to I'd say TWAT, Prostitute and possibly Catcher were the only ones to make it. The General, Seven, Thyme, Oklahoma, Atlas, Leave Me Alone all remain unheard.

In an alternate universe we may have got those all on one album but I think the leaks had a big say on what made the cut.

APE: I'm referring to late 05/early 06. Once that tour was in the planning stages there was zero chance of anything on the reunion front.

Exactly, maybe we're agreeing lol? The Korn appearance was Jan 06 I think? So an 06 tour plan almost certainly preceeds that appearance. Therefore my guess is that in late 05/early 06 Axls thinking CD, not reunions.

Plans lined up for CD? It was in limbo at that point. Just because leaks breathed new life into the saga for fans doesn't mean we were getting close. Add that potential 2 CD GH into the mix in that same time frame, the fact new gnr hadn't even been in a room together in four years, I don't see why it's so farfetched.

"According to the Axl camp"  that's why I want more details on this subject. They wouldn't have admitted to anything at that point and I don't blame them. Slash wasn't gonna say anything bad publicly either.

Edit: trying to get bucket, tour, wtc.  occurred after all that happened.

Wheels were definitely in motion in very early 06. Remember the Korn party appearance after 4 years being MIA? Axl doesn't do public appeaeances without good reason and sure enough we had an accompanying interview where he discusses CD and gave us the 36 songs comment. As we know CD in 06 never happened but I think the intention was there, certainly in the first half of the year, to get it out.

Prostitute now that OMG has finally been put out of it's misery.

Sorry definitely has some cheesy lyrics but so does SOD and it's also got some killer ones. 'It's harder live with the truth about you than to live with lies about me' is one of my favourite lines on the whole album.

Don't understand the Sorry hate at all, love that song. OMG has to go, cannot believe it's still here.

Legend - really liked it, Hardy's excellent, can't be long before he's getting an oscar. Not sure how 'on the money' he is with the performance having seen both Krays interviewed etc but it's absorbing none the less.

Music is subjective of course and I wont slam anyone for liking certain songs but it amazes me that anyone could like the music being played on CITR and think it flows with his singing.

I'm shocked that OMG has lasted this long but I think its by default. Its sneakily climbing up the ladder because there's a handful of songs on CD that hardcore fans cant stand and they'll get rid of those before pulling the trigger on OMG. I know that as soon as a couple more get thrown out of this my sights are on OMG.

You're right on about the music on CITR.  It absolutely doesn't flow with the vocals at all.  It's obvious all the guitar parts were added in and the song suffers greatly because of that.  It just isn't organic, free flowing or natural.

On OMG, I listened to it the other day and came away unimpressed.  Honestly, the only parts I like are the chorus and maybe the guitar solo.

It's not my favourite but I do still like CITR, never got the hate for it. I honestly used to think it was just an excuse for BH fans to hate on Ron 16 I see the cut n paste comments now but I still feel it's a better track than most seem to give it credit for. The 'not organic' comment is an intersting one as that's how I feel about large portions of the album, certainly can't be just aimed at CITR.

As for OMG it sounds like a car crash to me. Like some with CITR I don't feel the vocals or music flow with each other at all. The vocal melody is horrible IMO and the chorus is such a phoned in effort.

It looks like it'll go in the next round anyway so 5 to that.

#640 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tommy is out(?) » 556 weeks ago

Basically Axl has the luxury of two bass players. I think if Tommy gets the call he'll be there (although from his language I get the feeling he thinks it may be over). If it's a reunion then Duff'll be there.
