Sic, I read it as Axl wants more money prior to release and that the album can't be released without his consent. But, then again, that flies in the face of the GH debacle.....unless Axl has started a new deal since then (thus, the joint venture comment). I don't know....but something big is going to happen in the Gnr world in the next few months. Just my opinion.

That's why I think it is going to be some type of combo....a huge rush of all things Gnr. A reunion is Axl's biggest and baddest bargaining chip with Uni. Cut them in on the deal and the 13 million for Chinese goes away very quickly.
Furthermore, I think Robin saw the writing on the wall and split. VR is mighty mighty quiet as well-I agree.

there was also talk in the thread about Uni getting in to 360 deals which would incorporate touring as well as record releases. I would imagine Uni would be very interested in a reunion....as would Azoff....then, the question becomes, what comes first? Reunion or Chinese dump or some type of weird combo of both?

from The PRIEST at velvet rope, a poster who is a very well respected old industry veteran on the rope
"Jimmy still is rumored to have a giant Q4 coming and for those who give a shit, the Chinese Democracy problem is because Mr. Rose has a joint venture with the label and hands are tied until he gives an ok.
One hears that is a money issue....You Go Irving!"
"The only other thing that I will reiterate is:
Irving......
Much as I hate to say it, Irving is the man right now and Irving has THE machine.
This will turn into something even more grand.
What he is creating is nothing short of spectacular.
Hats off my friend."
personally, I'd like to know what that "joint venture" is....:ummm:

I am going to focus on Bucket Finck and Tommy.....the only guys I really care about. Bucket definitely benefited because he received the most exposure with MTV interviews and the highest profile in magazine stories. Finck benefited because he got to be creative in the studio and his relationship with Trent cooled after the Fagile tour. Tommy benefited as much as Bucket due to the media attention he got as he was focused on a little more in articles due to the Replacements background. He also got the solo album and Perfect album released due to his connections with the redhead. He probably benefitted more than anyone...even Bucket.
Robin left simply because he got a better business deal and the future is wide open since Trent has no label connections. Axl is completely bogged down right now due to his relationship with Uni. Robin obviously did not see a future with Axl partly due to label issues and I am sure partly due to the fact that there is a high probability of a reunion in the not too distant future. Azoff sealed his fate in a way. Knowing his recording was done, he bolted for a wide open avenue with Trent.

It is not wasted if you are getting paid very well. They are professional musicians with families to raise. All current and former members have done other things while in Gnr. They have not been held back against their will. I am 41 with a family, just like most of these guys, and know the advantages of a steady paycheck while supporting a family. I don't feel for them at all.

agree...what a bunch of nonsense. I would rather see no topics than what this thread turned in to. The original topic was fine and then it just spiraled in to idiotic mess.

well technically, Josh Freese is in the pic too...Freese and Finck together are a big loss.:o

the solo Bucket show I saw was not near as good as when I saw him withe a 3 piece band and Colonel Claypools Bucket of Bernie Brains...The 3 piece was awesome because he threw down Machine Gun by Hendrix and a bunch of other great stuff. I believe Pinchface was on drums. But, I went with some Primus fans to the Claypool ccbbb show and it was just downright bizarre, jamming, rocking and ...just great. Much more free form with Brain, Bucket, and Claypool just tearing it up. So, Commy, I see what your saying about the solo show. After the initial shock of talent, it kinda gets played out due to a lack of "human" element.
also, it is not just the shredding that floors you, it is the monstrous riffs backed by some beautiful soulful licks that really show you his talent......still you need other players.

quite frankly, it is bordering on annoying. Guess I'll just have to stay out of the thread.:|
