Ummm...no. Those are some of Slash's best work and he hasn't played them in over 20 years. I would rather Slash handle them.

This is all my speculation, but maybe they are trying to do that still. The new plan may include Slash and Duff on a song or 2, but the rest of bit being Axl's songs. That's why we don't have the full announced lineup. They can always rebuild the reunion buzz, but the window to dump the cd leftovers is very small. Perhaps coachella threw enough money at them to tweak the original plan.
Could be. My uncle didn't believe it when I said there were rumors about an 8 million payday. Half of that would be a lot for any band he said.
Strange when you think about it, because doesn't Coachella sell out anyways? The last two years they've unloaded every ticket in a few hours or less. Might indicate a dvd or something on the steps.
Keep in mind it is two shows, so $4m per show. But yeah, Coachella sells out anyway and it seems a strange waste of money on their part. Only thing I can come up with is bragging rights. They get to be the organization that reunited Axl and Slash after 23 years. Coachella is pretty well known for reunions so maybe they just like the bragging rights at this point.

That's the least of their worries. Getting Axl to sing worth a damn is a bigger issue.

Someone posted on GN'R Truth that Eddie Trunk reported last night on his radio show Slash's agent told him there would be no interviews or press conference. I wonder if that is just for Coachella or in general. Coachella sold out very quickly and would have sold out quickly even without GN'R, but they are going to need promotion if they plan to tour on their own.

After watching some classic live videos this evening, I really wish they weren't going to perform live. Axl is a sad shell of the incredible frontman he used to be.
I'm glad there is no more bad blood and I would like to see a studio album, but live performances will never match up with expectations created in the old days.

Will a AFD lineup be that big of a deal to the general public? From a marketing standpoint I see Axl, Slash and Duff meeting most requirements. Most people didn't even notice Izzy left back in the 90s.
Only the hardcores are going to get wet in their pants with Stevie and Izzy added on.
Differing lineups seems plausible, but not necessarily as some huge PR event.
Hard to say. There has been a lot of negativity in the comments section on various news articles across the Internet. "We want Steven and Izzy or no dice." That sort of thing. Problem is what percentage of the public do these comments represent? Who knows.

Sequelizing the reunion as
first, Axl & Slash (with Duff)
then, the AFD 5,gives Coachella more for their money.
The other way, the 2nd night is lesser.
Coachella already sold out and I don't think GN'R had anything to do with it.

This is weird. He appears to be fairly good friends with Axl (they seem to hang out frequently) and he put together the teaser that aired before Star Wars, so he seemed like a lock tbh.
Again, it would be great if they would just do a press release explaining who is and isn't in the band now. All this cloak and dagger bullshit, silencing of people involved with the project (in the band or not, he's been in the studio with Axl working on mixes and did the promo so he's involved in some capacity) plus last minute talk show cancellations are all terrible warning signs for this whole thing going up in smoke as per usual.
Lower your expectations to zero and be pleasantly surprised if anything productive happens.
