Hey Tommie good to see you around again!
Things all quiet on the GNR front since the Vegas residency last year, rumours of a new album but there's also rumours of Axl retiring so who knows. Same old shit really
Ron also appears to have quit but nothing's official.

Enjoyed ep 3. Better paced than last week I think and you can start to see where things might be going.
Looking forward to seeing how the stories in the north intertwine. Jon, Stannis, Littlefinger, Sansa, the Boltons, Theon and possibly Brienne seem set for a head on collision later this series! Could be brilliant!

The name suggests a residency of some sort. Is it not a lot of trouble for just a residency though, would they go to those lengths to protect the name? Maybe they would, it just makes me think perhaps it's a bigger deal than just a residency ie more at stake and more associated with it than the previous Vegas shows.

Can't see Axl suddenly going solo at this stage. As we've said before GNR essentially is his solo project these days why bother splitting it further? Could be way off of course but I see GNR related material being a much more likely use for the copyright.
Regarding CD Axl successfully stopped Offspring using the name didn't he? Suggesting he had some form of copyright on the name?

Watched ep 2 last night. Not read the books except for the first so no idea where the characters are meant to be at this stage. I agree it's all been a bit bland so far though. A lot of screen time for Dany but she was much more fun/intersting when conquering than pondering over every moral issue she has as queen slavers bay. Brienne/Pod and Littlefinger/Sansa is all a bit ponderous for now as well.
Perhaps this is all a product of them running out of books to work from so things are being stretched. Hoping for a slightly quicker pace in the episodes to come. The dragon did look awesome though.

First episode was ok, nothing special but first episodes rarely are. Just moving characters around to where they need to be.

Gonna watch this as it's shown on tv rather than the leaked episodes.
Can we please keep any and all discussion about episodes that are still to come, and that includes general thoughts/musings in spoiler tags please just for others benefit of others who haven't got there yet.
Looking forward to episode 1 to tonight!

One thing that does still intrigue me is the Bucket-Stinson relationship. Stinson flip flopped on this subject over the years(2004-05-"glad he's gone", blah blah blah) to post CD release comments indictating Bucket's departure was essentially the moment the train crashed.
Wish Tommy or even more Bucket would go into much greater detail than what is known.
Perhaps a case of better the devil you know for Tommy.
Whatever his issues with BH (and you can see why some people would have them) I think Tommy saw, certainly after he'd left, that BH seemed to really inspire Axl and was the best chance of a meaningful forward moving band. Axl went through the motions once BH had gone, indeed how much meaningful studio time can we actually attribute to GNR post BH's departure? Tommy probably saw, once it was too late, that the opportunity to be anything except a nostalgia act went out the door with BH.

Aussie wrote:According to wiki the first child sex allegations came out against MJ in 1993. So I'm not sure how that fits with Doug's timeline of Axl being pissed with Slash in 1991 for playing with MJ. Was Axl psychic that in 2 years time MJ was going to be accused?
Ding, ding ding, ding. Yeah complete nonsense. DG is a moron.
Playing devils advocate for a minute, just because the allegations weren't public til 93 doesn't mean it wasn't rumoured or even known within the industry before that. If it was a badly kept secret or strong rumour in the biz you could see why Axl wouldn't like it.
With all that said Doug talking BS is the more likely version of events.

That was funny. I particularly liked 'Got tired of waiting'
