#731 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash and Duff working on CD II according to MSL » 485 weeks ago

I remember I read somewhere something like... this was some track Ron was using to learn the song, but it might have been fabricated. I don't remember any firm confirmation from Ron, to be honest. so yeah, it might be Bucket or even someone else, hard to say.

depends on the point of view. without all these things, we would have no Snakepit, no other solo stuff... think about it in a constructive way! especially after all this just happened and we can't change it. dozens of albums have been recorded and released, all we have to do is enjoy them! and not whine that "unlike Oasis, they could not all find a way to get along" smile
and about Fortus, I was highly sceptical when I saw him in 2002. but I came to really like him in 2006 and later. he's very skilled, seems to be a much better guitar player than Paul and has a cool attitude, that fits in GNR perfectly. remember - they almost didn't recruit Bumblefoot in 2006 and it was Fortus who learned all Bucket's solos for the tour, they almost did the tour in 2 guitars. the guy IS very able, no doubt about it anymore.

correct about Axl vs Slash play. I do think Paul brought at least something though, just by checking ChiDem or OMG single liner notes, Paul is credited as composer at 4 songs and he originally wrote OMG in 1997 (according to wikipedia). I highly doubt Gilby would like to be involved in such songs at all, it's not his cup of tea.

are you sure? that would mean this "2013 version" is in fact like 2003 version, or even older. bizarre shit. I don't like RIR version, it's dull, but it might be the poor mix and everything buried in keyboards. I still prefer the original 1999 version, because it's quite sharp and tight.

in my opinion, he just didn't fit in the band from Axl's point of view. he had Slash and he wanted Paul Huge as rhytm guitarist. + he was looking for a bit more experimental guy.

oh, yes it's only that 30 secs. the whole song isn't out, unfortunately.

#738 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash and Duff working on CD II according to MSL » 485 weeks ago

the real problem is, these guys don't seem to like talking about their time in GNR, for some reason. I'd not really bother them at all. maybe only DJ seems to be a bit open about this, but he was in the band waaaaaaay long after OMG was played. not sure what to think about the 2013 leak, it might be just an old demo with newer guitar track by Bumble (?) which is so prominent that this sounds much like some in-ear monitor track, than a normal "listenable" version.

yup, I liked Pawnshop Guitars, there are some killer rockers there. and Swag is kinda cool, too. never got into the rest though. Gilby has always been a cool guy, replaced Izzy quite well. he just lacked his writing skills and he didn't fit into Axl's plans at all. to be fair, Gilby is no progressive or experimental guy, he just does his classic guitar thing.

Boston is the best one, in my opinion. will upload it to the Download section. edit: it's there! smile
my first NewGNR boots were probably some random songs from Limewire. if I remember correctly, it was Nightrain from Leeds 2002, Chinese Democracy from Vegas 2001 (magic performance with a speech!) and a few seconds video from The Blues RIR3.
I was kind of in doubt, what the hell are they doing. the only thing I knew by that time is, that the old band somehow folded (still remember that first shock when I first connected to the internet, somehow ended at snakepit.org and really really shocked when read all those solo projects and GNR nowhere to be found, it was in 1999 if I'm correct) and they now have some guys from NIN playing. I was like... OK that could be cool, I knew NIN from Quake video game. had no idea who or what is "Buckethead".
but that Leeds solo was so fresh that I said hey, this is not bad, I'll see what I can get. then I got complete Osaka 2002 somehow (the audience only, not IEM) and then I joined NewGNR DC++ hub and downloaded my first DVD, it was RIR3 by that time. and of course I connected to some fan forums, to find out where the truth really is.
well, and here I am 5
