#741 Re: The Sunset Strip » Prince Discussion » 946 weeks ago
As promised, I have started uploading some Prince rarities under the "All Other Downloads" section.
#742 Re: The Sunset Strip » Prince Discussion » 946 weeks ago
My download failed, so I didn't get anything until today.
But now I have Emancipation, Diamonds & Pearls, Love Symbol, Sign O' The Times and The Gold Experience.
Haven't got the grip on any of them yet, but damn there are some killer tunes here. "We March" from TGE is simply a monster.
Ahhh, these next few days are going to be something as it all starts to unfold. Like meeting a new girl.
Thanks for all the tips.
Some great stuff coming your way then.
Suggestions from the albums you have downloaded:
Emancipaton first (this one really should have been a 2 disc set and there are some fillers but still great:
Disc 1 - Jam of the Year/Somebody's Somebody/Right Back Here In My Arms/I Can't Make U Love Me (rare cover)
Disc 2 - Soul Sanctuary/Curious Child/The Holy River/Dreamin' About You
Disc 3 - The Human Body/One Of Us (BETTER than the original)/The Love We Make (one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard...period)/Emancipation
Diamonds & Pearls - Live For Love/Money Don't Matter 2Nite/Thunder/Cream/Willing & Able/Get Off/Diamonds & Pearls
Love Symbol - My Name is Prince/Morning Papers/The Max/Blue Light/Sweet Baby/Damn U/I Wanna Melt With U/The Continental
Sign O' The Times:
Disc 1 - Sign O' The Times/IT/Hot Thing/Play in the Sunshine
Disc 2 - U Got the Look/Strange Relationship/I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man/The Cross/Adore/It's Going to Be a Beautiful Night
The Gold Experience (My personal favorite): Every song but Now...yes, it's really that good.
#743 Re: Guns N' Roses » Top 5 Reasons Axl is better than Scott » 946 weeks ago
Only one reason needs to be given....
Axl owns the stage he is on. Doesn't matter who else is onstage at the moment, or how many bands/artists performed before him that night. The stage is his, and his alone.
Axl is the ONLY reason the band currently known as GNR exists. Totally agree with your statement James.

IF this WAS a joke to start out with it has gotten too big now and fiction could actually become reality. The real question now is, if the album comes out in 2008 and Dr Pepper claims it was a joke, how many people will sue for misrepresentation through advertising?
Good point BS. That's kind of what I was getting at, I think this whole thing is most likely an intended April Fool's joke...but who expected a very much shut-mouthed-about-CD Axl Rose to reply? Noone probably....including Dr. Pepper. My guess is Axl got kind of pissed and replied to scare Dr Pepper a little. Hell, it may even be the muse to trigger the release this year afterall...who knows? Axl is alot more intelligent than he is given credit for and he has a quick temper, this would be a clever counter move on his part.
But as Neemo always says...
We could just be reading to much into it!

I can't imagine why but I alway forget to mention The Gold Experience. Goddamnit that is a GREAT album. I'd also like to tack on a track that I've only known from Crystal Ball called "The Ride". Check that out too!
Please count me in on that "wanting you to upload some unreleased Prince stuff" list.
The Ride is an EXCELLENT blues song. Another example of his guitar skills as well. Many people don't
realize that when Prince started out he was very guitar heavy and very much compared to Hendrix by music critics. Want proof? Go listen to Bambi off of his self titled album or even better listen to the guitar (5 mins plus) solos at the end of I"m Yours off of his first album For You. Crystal Ball (a 3-cd set of some of his bootlegs given the production treatment and released finally) had some great stuff. Lovesign/Hide the Bone/Calhoun Square/She Gave Her Angels/Get Loose and Crucial all amazing songs. The fourth bonus disc (an all acoustic album called "The Truth") is simply amazing as well. Don't Play Me/The Truth/Comeback and Welcome 2 the Dawn are all mindblowing.
This guy deserves WAY more credit than he gets. Never have I seen one person with so much talent...yes, I am being totally serious.

I've been a fan for years and can tell you to FORGET THE HITS! He shines with his lesser known work. His BEST album (trust me I know this guy's music) is actually the Gold Experience. Other standout albums are: Dirty Mind/1999/Purple Rain/Graffiti Bridge/Diamonds and Pearls/O-+> (good call Russ)/ and Emancipation. Surprisingly a great deal of his best work is unreleased. If a few people show interest I'll upload some. People generally don't give the guy a chance due to his whacky personality and (less than stellar) hits. Sad, the guy really is a musical genius and one of the best guitarists of all time. As far as his recent stuff I think it's crap. 3121 blows in my opinion, I didn't like Rave as much as Russ (Tangerine/I love you but I don't trust you anymore and his great cover of Everyday is a Winding Road being the only three that worked imo) and really only one album since Emancipation is fairly good and that is Musicology. Up to Emancipation however there is nothing but gold to be found for the most part! I have the Superbowl performance from last year as well and it is amazing. His take on the Foo Fighter's "The Best of You" blended with Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" is one of the best performances I've ever heard...anywhere/anytime. I'll upload it soon.
#748 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Who should be the next singer for VR? » 946 weeks ago
John Corabi would be my pick. They could go in a more heavier rock direction with him too, rather than the pop/alternative styles that were starting to come up on Libertad.
I think their potential could be awesome. Plus John plays guitar as well.
EXCELLENT choice man, kudos! He did amazing things on the one album with Crue, in fact that was the best album (musicianship-wise) Motley ever did. That album had Uncle Jack/Hammered/Smoke the Sky/Misunderstood and To Death Do Us Part...oh yeah, the "hit" Hooligan's Holiday too. If you like solid rock you MUST give that album a whirl. He would be perfect for VR.
Another great choice would be Michael Monroe, perfect sound for the band.

Communist China wrote:Do you guys prefer Layne without AIC (Mad Season) or Jerry's solo stuff (Boggy Depot, Degradation Trip)?
I'm a guitar nut, so I prefer Jerry's stuff purely for the great guitar playing, but Mad Season is pretty damn good too.
Boggy Depot is a bit hit and miss, and a bit more poppier than AIC, but Degradation Trip is music to kill yourself to (in a good way, if that makes sense! hehe).
Apparently Jerry went through some really fucked up times during the making of that album, and you can really hear it on some tracks, with how sombre the tone is.
I think some of the better songs on there easily stand on par with the best AIC stuff too.
Bargain Basement Howard Hughes is eerily Chanis-like. If you listened to it without knowing you'd swear it sounds like Layne in a few spots on the song. Solid album(s) (depending on the version you have).
#750 Re: The Sunset Strip » Alice in Chains » 946 weeks ago
It's Coming After is kinda funny. Layne was really pissed about the song, somehow the guy from Second Coming fucked him over. I can't remember all the details I'll look it up when I get a chance.
Check your pms by the way CC!
