In hindsight.....
GNR were simply too iconic for the lead singer to ditch the classic lineup and remake it in his own "vision".
Did Jagger dump Richards? Plant dump Page? James dump Lars? Bono dump The Edge?
No.
Why? Because they were smart enough to know it wasn't feasible and instead of doing that, you either go solo or just work it out.
It's not all on Axl though. Slash shoulders part of the blame. Like Keith Richards told him...
You NEVER leave.
He gave Axl the upper hand by simply walking out the door and due to the juvenile bullshit and various hangers on, the relationship wasn't salvageable and 20+ years had to transpire before they both needed a hefty chunk of retirement money and decided to reach a truce.
While we have no idea of the inner workings, I guarantee that relationship never truly recovered.
While the big 3 may be back together, the spirit of GNR is long gone.
Iovine was right and hardcore fans were only kidding themselves.
I agree...as much as it pains me. However, if you are going to slice the cheese thin, the big three were Axl-Slash-Izzy....Duff in the clean up spot.

Illusion documentary would be fabulous
Dylan 62-66
Stones 68-72
Beatles 66-70
The Who 69-73
Guns 87-91
My favorites all have that 4 year run of pure magic that can never be replicated. We have to let it go. UYI came out 30 years ago!!!

It is what it is at this point.

You know, maybe Axl needs lyrics from John Lennon and some shitty guitar licks from The Boss to inspire his muse. He is special. And, the great news is he has Slash and Duff back! Yep, new music and artistry first! They will make Axl release new music or they are going to leave for their really awe inspiring solo careers! Or, they are all really money grubbing whores on a never ending cash grab. It is too funny to sit here 5 years later from the big money laundering scheme and still see not one fucking note of new music.

I was at the Noblesville Indiana shows in 1991...before the release. My brother and I really loved Dust N Bones and Estranged...immediately stuck out even though we obviously hadn’t heard them before.

And history hides the lies of our Civil Wars...give it a break...same bat time same bat channel for 400 years so give it a break. Too funny on a Gnr board.
