#771 Re: Guns N' Roses » U2 Producer tells Axl story » 669 weeks ago
I think the other problem is Beta has a relationship with Axl beyond just professional. Whereas a proper manager would be hopefully pushing Axl for some kind of followup album or anything to shake them out of the post CD limbo they seem to be in. I don't see Beta doing that, if Axls happy collecting the cash and phoning in the live performances then so be it. It's not like she has a reputation to worry about, she's not going to be adding other artists to the books, so what if she never coaxes another note out of Axl, as long the Lebeis bank account stays nice and full. A proper manager has a reputation to consider, the guy who gets Axl Rose to release an album must be pretty fucking good and so the portfio and reputation grows.
As it stands if Axl doesn't want to release any music there's nobody in the inner circle going to put up a counter argument, whch is what a proper manager would offer.

What was the old chestnut from Jan 06? 32 songs and 26 are nearly done. I think the core of the 99-02 sessions compile those 32 songs. We have 13 of them now. Depending on how much tinkering is 'required' there could be another albums worth of material literally sat ready to go. I don't see us ever getting a new album from the current lineup, simply because I don't think Axl has the desire or drive to get back in the studio and start from scratch again. He's sat on nearly 20 new songs as far as most people are concerned, the fact that their origins are from 3 lineups ago doesn't seem to bother him. Why jump back in the studio when the last time was such a confidence sapping, draining, possibly emotional and time consuming process?

Cairns is supposedly very nice and a lot of travellers visit Darwin so theresome spots to visit. I began planning a trip to Oz but things kinda got in the way, will do it in the next few years though.
Actually while we're talking oz are any of the aussies on here rugby league fans? Been meaning to ask for ages and not got round to it.

All I'll say in their defence is that these are festivals, people at festivals want the hits and songs they know, the vast majority dont't want deep cuts and new music.
Although that doesn't account for the numerous GNR shows they've played with that setlist for the last two years.

Tough one, I went with Dead Horse, underrated but a great track.

I thought Pacific Rim looked awful from the trailers but that's just me. I do like the look of Now You See Me though.
On topic I liked it, a bit too star trek for me but then Supes is an alien so it's a legit route to take. Enjoyed the flashbacks section of the film with his childhood and the scenes with Costner were great. I also noticed the Reeve resemblance near the end, it was very striking. Overall a good start and I look forward to the next one!

There's no need to be removing anything but a more respectful approach to someone else's opinion wouldn't hurt.

Maybe they signed off on it in 92 and they're only just using it all now? Might not have needed Axls permission again in 2013.

I think Pitman said he came up with the horn section in Madagascar and Axl liked it, so it's hardly a minor contribution.
