It's the same band photo displayed on the press release informing Axl wouldn't show up to the induction.

good post otto...just another thread to start the bashing. I actually just started the thread more as documentation of numbers so that when someone makes a crazy comment (both negative or positive) you can keep them in check with FACTS.
Somehow this got turned in to an Axl bash fest. Imagine that....I wish I had worldwide tour numbers to show the other side but those are VERY hard to come by.
I still keep my position, posted a few months back:
No matter what happens (tour, re-releases, live albums, different setlists, different approaches such as this residency, new site, etc) people will bash Axl until there's new music released.
Then, we'll discuss for a few months the album and the consequent tour. Axl will go into hiding again, reunion rumours will surface and be denied and the Axl bashing will restart untill something new is released.
This is the loop we're in after RNRHOF, unfortunately.

They were alcoholics and drug addicts even before the band.
If you read Duff's book, you'll know that he had panic attacks since he was a kid and the way he found to control these attcks was drinking heavily, daily.
Slash and Adler were all over drugs and Steven's life goal was to "have an unlimited stash of pot and crack to always feel happy".
It's pretty unfair to put this on Axl.
He has a lot of responsability on what went on with GN'R, but to put someone else's addiction into his account is nowhere near true.

I'd rather have Axl on his worst moments, such as Rock In Rio 2012.

I think they don't have the anger anymore, they don't need to prove a point anymore, to make a living, to go that extra mile and that's why it's flat out boring what they've done post 94.
Axl would be the one to have something to prove but then, again, it haunts him so much that he spends more time tinkering with layers and layers of inaudible guitars and synths than singing on the studio.

My problem with both of them is the ridiculous attempts to downplay each other's contributions. Slash shits on the band's ballads because Axl wrote them even though ballads are arguably the best thing about old GN'R (SCOM, Patience, DC, NR, Estranged). Meanwhile, Axl claims Slash should have left after GN'R Lies even though Slash contributed amazing material to the UYI albums. Both of them look like assholes for shitting on each other's contributions.
Completely agree on this. Both sound bitter and it's no different from a marriage that didn't end well enough to the moments together to be cherished instead of downplayed.
My point was that when things relate to the breakup and how things went historically, Axl is more reliable for several reasons: he was not on a drug haze, he's consistent, he often hides some facts and may even bend the truth but he never was caught in a lie (at least until now).
I'm not saying he's perfect but of all the sides, he's TO ME, more reliable.

and by recording over/drowning out alot of Izzy's guitar parts on UYI. There are alot of references on the subject but unfortunately I don't have them at my fingertips. If you guys don't think Slash was on a powertrip as well, then you are as much in LA-LA land as the Axlites. You should re-read Axl's side of the story sometime in the online chats. He has some very good counter punches to your arguments about the breakup and the name issue. While I think he exaggerates some, there clearly was a major major power struggle going on between him and Slash from 94-96. Slash didn't give a shit about Izzy being gone. It was more power and control for him. Gilby did whatever Slash wanted and that is why SI sucks and Snakepit sucked. But, I digress....
To continually put your Slashite blinders on in every single situation, is just as lame as what you guys criticize on a daily, hourly basis. It takes two to tango and Slash, in my eyes, is just as big a prick as Axl. He is just better at hiding his prickness.
This post deserves a positive Karma.

Good that it's calm enough that you have time and mind to be around here, Axlin.
Keep looking up and rocking out and good luck on solving those god damn issues.
