apologies everyone... i get a little heated when it comes to certain artists..
(anyone wanna ask me about godsmack? lol)
i think i got all the LP shit outta my system... hopefully, at the very least, i've at least provided some entertaining rants...

Hybrid Theory.. To my ears... sounds like Korn. With an MC. Period.
they took korn's sound. neutered it.... got a rapper... and aimed it at the kids that were into that whole scene.... i'm not gonna lie... i'll put it right out on front street..
when the first korn record came out... it FLOORED me. one punch fucking knockout.
it was raw.. brutal.. full of emotion and REAL anger.. it grooved in a way that has many times been imitated.. but never duplicated ( even by korn )....
deftones... same thing.. adrenaline was a GEM...then "that sound" blew up...everyone wanted that vibe... much like hair bands in the 80's.. and grunge bands in the very early 90's.. shit-tons of bands popped up playing "nu metal"... the more bands there were.. the more watered down they were... record companies ain't stupid.. they started snapping up these kids playing that shit ... getting em in a studio and selling records by the fucking truckload...  hybrid theory was (in my eyes)the point where it all became a huge fucking parody of itself. my opinion of the album isn't an indictment of the scene itself but rather pointing out that THAT particular record was an un-authentic cash in at the end of the genre's mainstream popularity....they were TOO perfect.. I remember the first time i heard "one step closer"... i thought too myself "are they fucking serious, with this shit" and "if yer gonna scream, skinny blond kid, at LEAST sound like you mean it." imagine my surprise... when.. lo and behold.. it blew up...they have changed since... you'll never see them "go back to their roots.. it'd be commercial suicide... they have conveniently changed to suit the times... because that's all they EVER were about. ..playing what's "popular"....  i'm just surprised not as many people have seen through the bullshit posturing...

... i'll give you buckcherry

even though they are a little bit of a gnr/ ac/dc mashup of sorts, they're not terrible...they ain't reinventing the fucking wheel... but i know who they are when i hear them
but shinedown?
they're cut from the same cloth as nickelback and theory of a deadman
another bunch of kids that were probably RAISED on the right music, but something was lost in the translation and now they all sound the same....

that would be me 13 and i like godsmack's awake and linkin park's hybrid theory tongue

and tyler, lp just put out an album. if it sucked so bad why did people buy it? where were all this great metal bands that were supposed to stop lp from being on top of the rock charts? don't get me wrong, i haven't listened to that record in 3+ years but, they did something that appealed to many people at the time.

.. they've also changed up a bit since hybrid theory... they get a little less "heavy" every time up... but what you're saying is my point entirely:

The fact of the matter is linkin park was DESIGNED to appeal to lots of people... it's shiny... polished... easily digestible watered down fucking pop music for people that like their music a little on the heavy side.. but don't have the patience or attention span to listen to music that may be challenging to their ears....aka "The General Public"...same with nickelback, shinedown, theory of a deadman, saliva, godsmack, hinder, seether. buckcherry, sixx am, puddle of mudd, finger eleven, creed, hell.. i could go on forever... they ALL have something in common... they're all 25th generation 90's band rip off "artists"... they took a page or two of something that was brilliant and worked from a really talented great band from the 90's ( or a couple of bands ) and stuck that shit into a meat grinder to the point where it's almost unrecognizable then they polish the turds the meat grinder spits out... throw a hook or two in there and KA CHING....that's why everyone jizzes when the real deal puts out a record.. be it audioslave.. or velvet revolver...ACTUAL artists who were the "inspiration" for all of the incestuous fucking plagiarism on the radio...
it would take no time at all to point out who any of these bands are ripping off....they have zero integrity and less originality.... cookie cutter BULLSHIT

"Great Metal" ain't on the radio, brother...never has been... never will be...

so... we agree on godsmack.. and linkin park.....
... but you think death magnetic is a bigger shit stain on the discography than st anger?

.... actually... my perspective on DM is kinda fucked because i've been listening to the guitar hero mixes since they came out... specifically the "deceifer mix"....

the actual album makes my fucking ears bleed....if you delete load, reload, garage inc, s&m, and st anger ... it actually fits in where they left off with the black album...kinda...i love it... it's aggresive, non-commercial, and a step in the correct direction for a change... so if it's the horrendous final mix of the album that is making the album unlistinable for you (as it was for me)... i highly recommend getting your hands on the mix i mentioned above.... if ya need help...lemme know

i have heard and at least liked every record here... except 2
muse... i haven't heard
and hybrid theory.... which is everything that's been wrong with mainstream rock in the last decade or so... hated it from the moment i heard it.... you wanna know where all the new real rock n roll/ hard rock is? ask linkin fucking park... they helped kill it with this pile of shit....
it may be an unpoular opinion.. and i apologize if i've offended anyone... but to me... LP is a rap/rock boy band... i at least had some respect for limp bizkit when their first record came out... it sounded real and honest... this is sooooooooo manufactured and sterile...i just wish more people saw through the shine..
