Promoter Don Marradino is certainly putting a lot of information on his name. He's definitely promoting his employer (Hard Rock), the residencies and the DVD.

If true, I'd expect Ax to be pissed at him for telling. If false, he could be using the news story to sell the idea off to Ax.

Expect Slash to answer about this with 'I don't know."

I'm with TheMole on this one guys, no need to turn the thread into your personal quarrel. You guys can PM that stuff to each other all day for all I care, and that's your business. But please, guys, keep it out of the conversation, because it's tiresome for the rest of us.

I like the setlist, really.

6 CD songs, half of them less played ones.
6 UYI songs, with one out of the blue addition.
1 Lies song.
7 AFD songs, the mainstays.

It's looking like a balanced take between albums. Could use a CD2 track in the last show, just to leave everyone guessing wink

Ron dodged the rumors of himself leaving after Vegas.

Hey, Bumble---

Love your music and love your guitar playing. I hope the rumors that you might leave GN'R after Vegas aren't true--I know Axl can be a tough person to deal with (I myself am a very tough person to deal with and drive people away myself), and I know touring, being away from home etc is a pain in the ass I am sure...But you're very much appreciated in GN'R, and speaking for myself and many others, I hope you remain in the band.

We actually jammed last night until the wee hours, til my fingers were blue and both me & my tech were falling over, was a great time & wish we had done that more often - Axl's great to jam with   smile   (And I'm sure I've been tougher to deal with in GNR than anyone, circumstances have not made it an easy ride for me personally & it hasn't made me the best version of myself most of the time...)

From MyGNR

Hey all, long time no argue.  Lol...      I knew going into this Kickstarter how it could be perceived, and that haters are gonna hate no matter what, but just so you know where I'm coming from.....

Gary & I (& our bandmates/crew) are sharing a vehicle together, it's $60,000 just for the vehicle expenses, then getting tour insurance for the band members & all...  we get a flat fee for performing as openers for Yngwie, the original agreement for our expenses got hijacked, and we want to take care of our band members the best we can.  Gary's done a Kickstarter campaign before and suggested we do this for the tour, he's my buddy, he'll always have my support.  I know on my end it comes off to some as a 'millionaire begging' and apologize for rubbing any of you the wrong way - but simply, I'm helping the people involved in this tour & having fun offering what I can in return.  smile  That's it.  smile  Nobody's forcing anyone to participate, it's not like you get nothing in return, it's out there for those who choose to take part in it.

Most of the solo gigs I've done have been for charitable causes [Red Cross, Navy Seals, juvenile diabetes, Operation Smile, men's & women's health issues, burn victims, The Grammy Foundation, Rays Of Sunshine, Music Rising “Icons of Music” for victims of Hurricane Katrina, Oxfam's Tsunami Relief & Global Emergency Fund, Earthquake Relief Fund, Humanitarian Water & Food Award, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Little Kids Rock and Rock Asylum for children's education, Dubai Autism Centre, NGO Wildlife Trust of India, a board member of the MS Research Foundation, spokesperson for Knockout For A Cause Foundation to fun school programs, a member of “Musicians On Call”, visiting orphanages and children's hospitals all over the world - to name a few], just so you know I'm not one who doesn't give.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled program here...    for whoever's going to be at the Vegas GNR show tonight I'll be by the box office before doors open around 7:30 saying hi (as I do every night), please come say hello  smile

Thanks,

Ron

Leaving almost immediately after the Vegas shows, Ron will be on this tour for the next month or so. Guess he's already had time to focus on the second half of Chinese.

Hi friends, I'm Gary Hoey and my friend Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal are heading on the road for the GUITAR GODS TOUR (featuring Yngwie Malmstein and Uli Jon Roth). We need your help to bring all our bandmates and crew on this crazy tour. Five weeks and 13,000 miles of bouncing around the US and Canada is no easy task when you are an independent artist. We will do anything for our fans. We had this crazy idea we could all share one rhythm section to make the tour financially possible, but Bumblefoot and I said HECK NO! We have to take our bands, that's what our fans want.

Of course, this is going to cost a crap load of cash! $13,000 in fuel just for starters. paying for band, crew, insurance, food (They don't work for pizza and beer anymore) All the funds we raise will go to the expenses of this tour. And if we don't reach our goal, no one gets charged a dime. We will offer some great rewards for your support. And any pledge even $5 will get you access to the exclusive video diary from the road we will be adding often. We can't thank you enough and we hope to see you on the Guitar Gods Tour, best regards from Gary and Bumblefoot. Rock on!

From what I can gather, it appears to be a one or two-nighter in every other city, making it a limited release.  The reasoning behind that could be that Universal gets the film out there cheap, some punters will check out the show on a big screen with proper sound, and some of them may venture to buy the DVD. I'd say the main thing for the limited release is to raise some awareness for the disc.

edit: Wednesday and Thursday (18th/19th June) appear to be the only dates chalked in. Mid-week, 7pm. Cost-effective.

#839 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Revolver interview with Axl » 624 weeks ago

I was thinking about if this relates to the recent news story by Radar Online that Axl's about to retire.

Axl wrote:

We have what I call kind of the second half of ‘Chinese.’ That’s already recorded.

Soul Monster @ DJ Chat wrote:

Axl talked about CDII being "already recorded", do you know if it is completely mixed and mastered and ready for the shelves, and did you contribute to it?
DJ: It is not ready to hit shelves but whatever we release next i will be apart of

The second half, therefore, requires some studio work.

Axl wrote:

Then we have a remix album made of the songs from ‘Chinese.’ That’s been done for a while, too. But after Vegas, we’re going to start looking very seriously and what we’re doing in that regard.

“Band members have been told their calendars are free following Vegas,” a source close to the band tells RadarOnline. “Axl (Rose) is considering retiring and it’s done. Band members and support staff were surprised when told the news and are actively looking for work.”

Both stories suggest there'll a silent period after Vegas. To what ends, tho?

“Axl has made enough money and wants to stop touring,” adds another source. “He is considering retiring.”

Axl wrote:

Even our last U.S. arena tour... could have been more successful than it was.

Other people think Axl's complacent with his touring revenue, while Axl himself disagrees.

Axl wrote:

I just feel like, you know, it's been a long, slow process beyond comprehension with Chinese Democracy, but it's still moving forward and there's a lot more that we hope to do.

Axl's specifically saying the CD sage will continue to move on, with his latter quote seemingly being an understated reaffirmation that he intends to get the second half out there.

One way I can imagine these stories to co-exist would be that Guns would have announced their touring staff that there are no plans for tour legs in the foreseeable future and that they should begin looking for work after Vegas. They (Team Brazil / Del James) would've likely been mum about studio work relating to it one way or the other, which could have some peeps consider that Axl's calling it a day for Guns. Ron may well be walking out after Vegas, and that would temporarily cripple the live band, anyway.

What else? There's the AFD3D concert film, the very first official release of any kind since CD. While it's but of passing interest to the people on the boards, it's actually very interesting in political terms. Universal and Axl have (provided the release comes through) seen eye to eye on many enough things for the bridges to have been rebuilt and they now have a new product to serve as a barometer for Guns' bankability. If it sells well, there's a chance Uni will warm up to the remix album and the second half of CD. A logical thing could be re-releasing CD as a 3-disc edition. Minimum effort required for Axl the songwriter and more money coming his way before hopping on to another tour.

Would be wary about the release bits, tho. There's still another month to go before AFD3D is set to come out and many things can happen in the Guns world before that.

DJ apparently tweeted earlier today that Izzy might play with GNR in Vegas tonight, and Duffs wife apparently tweeted a link to buy GNR tickets for tomorrow nights gig smile Anyone going to either of these shows?

The Izzy bit came from a DJ chat (which are generally known for their inanity), courtesy of an MSL board member.

Izzy is a chance for tonights concert !

I'd put more stock into Duff playing as his wife did tweet a link to tonights show.
