#901 Re: The Sunset Strip » Global music sales fell around 10% in 2007 » 955 weeks ago
No way in fuck would I buy strictly digital downloads. This sort of attitude is part of the reason the industry continues to decline, people are fed up with it. The industry is only pissed off because they are no longer in a situation where they can so easily rip people off...the tables have been turned on them a bit and they are crying about it now.

This story becomes more and more interesting. Strange the military took so long to offer the explanation and even stranger that they are so interested in harassing the people and trying to silence them.
#903 Re: Guns N' Roses » HMV says "CD not a scheduled release this year" » 955 weeks ago
That letter looks about 2 years too late. For some reason I think this is a form letter and the "this year" either refers to 2006 or 2007. Why would they say "no longer... release date for this year"? It's January. An entire album can be written, produced, and distributed by the end of the year. Just saying....
I think you are on the right track but I actually doubt that this is a legitimate reply at all. Here's the clues: "You asked us to send you Chinese Democracy by Guns N Roses", that isn't the way it would be written. It would be more like, "You preordered Chinese Democracy by the artist Guns N Roses, unfortunately...(blah blah blah)." They wouldn't have said "asked us to send you Chinese Democracy", it's an order not a favor.
Next problem: "Your order will be kept open for when the album is eventually released." Problems here as well. First they wouldn't say "for", the word would be "until" also not "eventually" but more likely "if" or "when" at best.
Finally: "We really hope you're not too disappointed." WTF? I have a very hard time buying that line. It would be closer to "sorry for any inconvenience", "not too disappointed" sounds stupid.
I reallize this could have just been a very unprofessional person (there is a name attached on the reply which in my opinion is the only hint of this being real) replying but it smells like just another case of bulshit to me.

Good points on how being high will make you concentrate on certain aspects of songs. There's a low bass line in Wild Life by Talking Heads that is superb while intoxicated.
Funny you mentioned the Heads. Once In A Lifetime (particularly the live version) is a trip if you are stoned and Love For Sale has that same sort of bass line that is drunk-friendly.
Back to GNR....Coma is one of the songs (obviously) that killed me when I was on a heavy buzz, for some reason the drums more than anything. It was like a trance yet peaceful or like Pink Floyd would say...comfortably numb. Lies (the whole EP) can't be put down either when the buzz is peaking, don't know why exactly but it is hypnotizing.

....and moss has been quiet....hes due.....
Believe it or not this is actually my biggest concern. Either that they will over protect "the big play" and get nickel and dimed to death or that they will do too many blitzes and he will knock off a couple long receptions that could change the tone of the game.
#907 Re: The Sunset Strip » HEATH LEDGER DEAD » 955 weeks ago
Oscars are gonna be hard to watch now. When they do that memorial tribute thing like they do every year, I'm sure the outpouring will be overwhelming from the crowd. I'm still shaking my head/almost crying each time I think about the fact that he's actually dead. Still in denial I guess.
You were the first person on this board that I thought about when I heard the news. I always liked your choice of avatar as I think that Ledger's role as the Joker may end up being the best villian we've yet to see in any of the superhero movies. I love the idea of a deformed Joker rather than the usual cheesey take on the character. This will be much more in line with Batman and his "Dark Knight" roots. Really looking forward to this film and this version of the Joker is one of the reasons. I had heard awhile back that Heath's performance may be Oscar worthy, I hope he still gets it but I hate that it may come post mortum. Even worse is the critics who will (if Ledger wins) inevitably say he won it due to his unfortunate demise. We lost a good actor in Heath and there aren't many at his level of skill unfortunately. I think James said somewhere that he was this generations River Phoenix and I think that is a very accurate statement.

I'm just giving you a hard time Neemo. Noone can take away what Brady and the Patriots have accomplished I just don't think that makes him the "best ever". That's really my only beef. He may eventualy surprise me and become just that but he hasn't yet. He's a good player surrounded by a solid team.
As far as losing the Superbowl, yeah it will really make the 16-0 regular season something that will be mocked. I am not saying that this is fair but it is true. No matter what happens he has shown for a fact that he isn't a flash in the pan and has definitely earned much more credibility in deserving to be talked about in the same ring as "one of the best to play the game"...I just wouldn't say the best.
One thing I have seen in Brady that I do respect a great deal is his desire to want to win and his love of the game. That's two qualities that are a must to make you a legitimate great in the game.
....if NE DOES lose the Superbowl and you guys see "banned" next to my name you may want to see if Neemo has a shit-eating smile on his face.
#909 Re: The Garden » The NFL 2007-08 Season thread » 955 weeks ago
if if if
Yep, that's what Brady will be saying after losing the Superbowl immediately followed by ..."Well, as most of you guys know, my foot was hurt so...."

I know at one point he was going to do something with Either Jeff Ament or Mike McCready from Pearl Jam(I don't remember which). If that ever actually came out I never heard it.
Yeah, I remember seeing the video now. I'm not sure if Mike or Jeff was in this song but it was this reply that made me remember. Seems like they may have been out around a campfire type of setting or something. The song was awesome but I only saw part of it at two different times I believe. I'll try and do some research on this and see if I can come up with it. The name of the song is almost on my tongue but I can't place it. Great tune I remember and I will do my best to remember and research this one. I've been hella busy lately so if I forget pm me and remind me. The video kind of had a Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog) feel I think.
I looked around and see Pinnick mentioning wanting to work with Cornell because they're friends, but saying it never happened. Also, as best I can tell the thing with the guys from PJ (turns out it was Ament and McCready) never came out, the last mentions of it I can find are from about 2 or 3 years ago.
Just because you mentioned the campfire, are you sure you're not thinking of this.
And that reminds me, put Sevendust on this list too.
No this isn't it but good call, I can see why you would think that based on my description. Damn, I wish I could remember. Problem is I don't know if I saw it televised or something from some rare shit I had at one time. Obviously I don't have a clear memory of it and who was actually in the song for sure. I do know with fair certainty it was about someone who had died perhaps of an overdose. The band was like a supergroup type but I can't remember much. Thanks for throwing this out there, it definitely has the same sort of vibe in terms of surroundings. Seems like this video I'm thinking of was mostly at night. Sorry I can't recall more at the time.
