This is a good album.  It's very even and consistent, which I appreciate.  The best songs to me are "Standing in the Sun", "Anastasia", "Not for Me", "Far and Away", "No More Heroes" and "Bad Rain".  Slash's playing is great on this record.  His ear-pleasing, unique and identifiable tone as well as his wonderful sense of melody are on full display here.  I really do think Myles is a great talent and has great technical ability as a singer.  However, as evidenced on "Hard & Fast", Myles' tone in his upper register is abrasive to my ears.  I do enjoy his vocal tone that he frequently employs in his lower register (a great example is "Open Your Eyes" by Alter Bridge), but he obviously he does not always use that tone.  His melodies are good for the most part, but I've never felt he's a great lyricist.  The band however is fantastic and their cohesiveness with Slash is very clear and noticeable.

My biggest question now is, where does Slash go from here?  He explored a variety of different genres and styles on his first record, and now he's returned to his comfort zone stylistically.  How many times can he make this kind of record before the law of diminishing returns sets in for the audience?  Of course, that point is different for different people, but after listening to this record, I couldn't help but think of Angus Young and AC/DC.  At a certain point for me, there was a complete and utter disinterest in hearing a new record from AC/DC as I had such a strong gut instinct that was reinforced more and more over time that there would be little to no stylistic explorations on new records.  I hope that listening experience I had with AC/DC does not hold for Slash.

Nonetheless, perhaps, making a stylistically varied first solo album allowed Slash to return to his roots or comfort zone with the results he did here.  Here's hoping it keeps up.

Dude.. how old are you? You really need to actually listen to their albums.

As for Slash, best hard rock record I have heard in a while. And Bad Rain is a sexy tune man. 16 I'm with all those who dig it.
