Slash Endorses Chinese Democracy

The guitarist quit Guns N' Roses in 1996 after falling out with frontman Axl Rose.

Daily Rock Photos - "Get the latest rock news!"

Former Guns N' Roses rocker Slash has given the band's long-awaited comeback album the thumbs up.

The guitarist quit Guns N' Roses in 1996 after falling out with frontman Axl Rose while the pair worked on the LP - which has taken 14 years to hit stores.

As Rose prepares for its November 24 release, Slash - now a member of supergroup Velvet Revolver - responded positively when played a track from the disc on a radio station this week.

He told listeners, "That sounds cool. It's good to hear (Axl Rose's) voice again, y'know?"

Click Here to Listen to Guns N' Roses' new song!

That list is false, and a false representation. I can name you a dozen sites that have the same lists, and they list those tracks under "Top 10 or Top-20 VIDEOS". As in the music videos for those tracks.

It has nothing to do with the actual songs on the radio, and who's listening to what.

Thus the reason it's so godawful. When you see stuff like this, with the exception of maybe Metallica, you know that payola is alive and well.

OK - I looked at the site more carefully and you may be right - it looks like it might be the on demand top 20.  I looked around some more and found this:

1. Ac/dc - Rock N' Roll Train
2. Staind - Believe
3. 3 Doors Down - Train
4. Apocalyptica / Adam Gontier - I Don't Care
5. Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
6. Theory Of A Deadman - Bad Girlfriend (lyri
7. Shinedown - Second Chance
8. Nickelback - Gotta Be Somebody
9. Trapt - Who's Going Home With You Tonight? (late Night...mi
10. Puddle Of Mudd - Livin' On Borrowed Time
11. Atreyu - Falling Down
12. Rehab - Bartender Song [sittin' At A Bar] /(con
13. Seether - Breakdown
14. Hinder - Without You
15. Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far Kid
16. Saving Abel - Addicted
17. Sixx A.m. - Life Is Beautiful
18. Kid Rock - All Summer Long
19. Kid Rock - Rock N Roll Jesus
20. Puddle Of Mudd - Psycho

There aren't videos for all these songs, so one can only assume this is a more accurate list.

I am neither full of crap nor being lied to for the record. People I talk to have no problem sharing their honest opinion with me and they all like it.

OK.  I stand by my statement.

More of an insult then a statement from my perspective.

I just found this info posted by a user named mega_music at htgth:

Here's the latest MediaBase 24/7 radio charts for Chinese source from allaccess.com
Week of 10/20 to 10/26 updated on Oct 27, 2008 @ 4:19 AM (PT)

Rolling Chart (update with daily spins)

Active Rock
17         GUNS N' ROSES     Chinese Democracy

Mainstream Rock
8         GUNS N' ROSES     Chinese Democracy
Those results are on a rolling chart that is updated on a daily basis.

On the published charts (compiling the entire week)

For the week of 10/20 to 10/26 published on 10/25/08

Active Rock
19         GUNS N' ROSES     Chinese Democracy

Mainstream Rock
11         GUNS N' ROSES     Chinese Democracy

Chinese is #1 for the Taking Off category, and also #1 on the Spincrease category.

Those numbers again are compiled by MediaBase 24/7
The Billboard and Nielsen radio numbers will probably be out later this week for last weeks radio plays.

Those #'s calculate CD for 3 days, of a 7 day period.  A radio director told me it will be #1 on modern rock when a full week is calculated.  Moreover, he told me the 15 stations they have were flooded with requests for it--e-mail requests, phone requests, etc.  It was not just forum people, this thing is doing way better than anyone expected.  He said their UMG rep, while confident that it would do good, said it's doing better than anyone expected!  This song is a hit--the worst response I see to it, are from forum "downers" who were hating prior to the release.  Most common rock fans like the song--and like it more with each listen!

On the gaming website I post on most people had positive things to say about it. I haven't requested it on KROQ (my local radio station) because I want to see how it does in an unbiased way. I'm curious to see if it's still on the top 5 requested songs of the day after the weekend break...

The song was played coming out of a break today during the Howard Stern Show, in full.  Lots of times they only play a minute or 2 of a song but they let this one play all the way through.  Howard was eating his lunch during the song, and asked Fred what the song was.  He told him, "Guns N' Roses", and Howard responded, "Ah, new GNR".  And Robin exclaimed that she was really digging the song.  That Fred through it in without announcing it and she really liked it.

Pretty cool.  Howard has a pretty large listening fanbase, so a LOT of people probably got to hear the song today, that normally may not have.
