That's a good comparison. I think for a lot of people, both of those events were incomprehensible so they tried to explain them away with conspiracies and skepticism. With 9/11, it feels like you can't trust the mainstream media on it because they're owned by corporations like GE that make the weapons used in Afghanistan and Iraq following 9/11. They have an agenda, a money-making one based on weapons manufacturing. Why would they do any real journalism on issues of national security? And then there's the misleading 9/11 truther propagandists like Alex Jones. As incomprehensible as 9/11 itself was, it seems even more incomprehensible that such a huge group of people could be in on such a large conspiracy. Someone would have spilled the beans I think.
