Some that have not been mentioned:

The Pledge (starred Jack Nicholson; I think it was directed by Sean Penn) is a great film. Went under the radar a bit.
Traffic
Ghost World
Bad Santa
The Departed
The Prestige
Borat
Gran Torino
The Wrestler

The Sopranos is the greatest cinema of the era (and probably any era) although it's obviously a TV show...

Have you ever read the writing credits or backstory of the song? He wrote the “black armband” part.

In your defense he also wrote So Fine.

Fair enough re Civil War. Thats a good part.

I actually don't mind So Fine to be fair. Certainly nowhere near the worst off the Illusions albums.

Just did what I said I wouldn't do and watched it a second time. I don't hate it as much as the first viewing so maybe there's something to that...?

pump out a few more CD songs and then get ready for the Izzy run on tour and in the studio.

Its very simple (except for the $$ part with Izzy touring) and everyone goes home satisfied/happy

Axl gets his fill with the last of the Chin Dem era
The boys get back together in the studio with Izzy and put together an album or two
Tour with or without Izzy.

Retirement

That would be incredible. Sadly, it would seem it's pure fantasy.

Garbage song, garbage video.
Embarrassing stuff. I will never watch it again - it gave me a headache. Perhaps was a massive step in the right direction. I would say this is better than nothing but I actually think nothing would have been better.

axl I’m actually really starting to love this song….the power chords, lyrics, and Axl wailing at top register…it’s cool.

Of course, it’s not as cool as Get In The Ring but I digress….

Two things can be true - Get in the ring being a turd (which it undoubtedly is) doesn’t mean that the General can not also be one of their worst songs .
All subjective of course

For me Brain is one of the BEST drummers ofvthe world and when he left his parts can't be replaced for anyone out there in the GNR camp

He’s used to get HAMMERED on the boards for the YCBM intro though. Can’t win em all i guess!

When i listen Prostitute i think is a fucking great song with the worst mix posible.
A bit of more powerful guitars here, a little less clean Axl voice there ... And It would be one of the BEST GNR song ever

As with the whole album, it’d be nice to hear the actual basslines. Drums, guitars and Axl are phenomenal.
Comparing it to the clipping aimless sonic mess that is The General is night and day

It’s not only one of my favorites, but I can think of many GNR songs that are way inferior.

I mean it all comes down to preference. It’s still beyond me when some fans said the same about Prostitute

I think Prostitute is a masterpiece - the cream of CD. Sorry is very strong bar some of the lyrics. The General is not in the ballpark of either.

The General is undoubtedly one of the worst songs in the entire GNR catalogue
