i'm on the fence with ron. i like his work on shacklers and hate his work on riad. everything else is of no consequence to me.
i agree with neemo that he certainly didn't ruin the album whether you like him or not. it was going to be a very busy album either way.
it was axl's music before ron was around. axl chose to keep the tracks and i have a hard time blaming him for wanting his lead guitarist to be involved with chinese democracy.
that's why i keep saying how important it is right now for axl to finalize and maintain a lineup from here on out if he wants to have any future success.

the GN'R analogy still applies, and is why I made it.
i was only joking and i agree with the point of it
but i do have a response.
the yankees org. was run in a similar way during the winning period as it was run in the losing period.
gnr, on the other hand, was run as a band during it's winning seasons and as a business during it's more modest seasons.
the yankees can solve their problems by re-updating their roster.
gnr, on the other hand, lost everything by updating their roster and are looked upon as a joke a little more each time it makes a change.

As for the Twins, there biggest problem is they don't keep the talent they grow. They're too damn cheap, and anytime someone gets good they get sold (traded) off.
very true about the twins and what's also so frustrating about it is that the ticket sales are not all that good. a couple big names would certainly help sell more tickets and win more games. but polad saved every last penny he made til his death.

The New York Yankees are like one of the best organizations in baseball.
Not in 'most' of the last decade, barring 1999 & 2000.
three trophies and two runner-ups in 10 years doesn't indicate greatness? how many other teams have achieved more?
More of my analogy was to how the organization has been run in the past decade
my response to the analogy was mostly a joke. it's a pretty decent analogy minus the fact that gnr has lost success as it is has become more of business and less of a band where as the yankees would fail to make the playoffs if the mlb implimented a decent salary cap.
i'm a minnesota native. it pains me more than most to watch the twins, one of the best organizations (if not the best) in baseball, scrape the bottom of the barrel year after year and still manage to be competitive throughout. if they had half the money the yankeees spend they'd be champs all the time.

Yeah, and thank God I saw them in concert right before the album was released.
Good to see you drop in. Definitely one of my favorite posters from mygnr.
On topic, like others have said, I'm going if they tour. Even if Bill Cosby is the next guitarist. Axl and the various line ups are so volatile that it could always be the last tour.
i can see it now:
bill cosby opens with the classic comedy bit for an hour or so.
then the lights go out and the pitman mix comes in
a crew member then brings bill cosby his guitar and he plays the welcome to the jungle teaser riff
followed shortly after by "do you know where the fuck you are!!!!!!!!"
bill would have amazing stage presence

axl is enough of a draw for me
and every chance to see him could be my last
I'd also like to see some new songs live, regardless of who wrote them
looking forward to more UYI songs as well like coma, locomotive, and estranged

i have moved on as well. from slash and from buckethead. those are gnr's best two lead guitar players to this date and neither could deal with the shit that comes with axl/gnr or whatever you want to believe. if gnr is to become special again axl really needs to maintain one line-up. I think the "dictatorship" can work but in order for any continuity to exist in the studio and on tour axl needs the same handful of guys to continue making music for him and he needs to make more haste with getting their creations to our ears. If this happens I have a good feeling about the current group of guys.
