Ok who the fuck saw this coming in the Prince Fielder sweepstakes--The Tigers sign Prince Fielder to a 9 year deal worth 214 million dollars. Averages out to 23.7 million dollars per year.
Scott Boras must be thanking his lucky stars that Victor Martinez blew out his ACL otherwise I don't think this move happens at all. Way too long of a deal for Fielder who'll be 36 at the end of it. Miguel Cabrera will probably DH for the Tigers. I don't see him the playing the field at all considering he's gotten kinda fat.
I do think it's kinda cool that he goes to his father's old team. The Tigers will win the AL Central but I'm not sure their lineup is strong enough 1-9 to compete with the other elite AL teams.

I wouldn't Pats-Giants or Ravens-Giants. I don't want to see any SB with the 49ers in it. Pats definitely got lucky with all the injuries and inconsistent play in the AFC. It'll be an interesting test since I'm not sold on the Ravens CB play. On the other side, Pats play a real qb this week in Joe Flacco. He might not be elite but he can actually throw a forward pass. I think it'll be close but I think the Ravens squeak it out.
I think the Giants are on a roll and win in SF. I hate Brandon Jacobs though, the guy has been pretty useless this year. It didn't help that I had him on my fantasy team for a portion of the year. The SF offense looked pretty suspect in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the Saints game.
Eli has been on fire on 3rd downs. I think it continues. It's weird how Eli is the more superior qb in the postseason when it comes to the Manning brothers. Peyton was pretty predictable in that you pressure him and just wait for him to make a critical error.

Ethier is ABSURDLY OVERPAID. The guy has talent, but I don't get the kind of money the Dodgers have paid him over the years and continue to pay him. Way too much.
He's a complimentary player getting paid star money. I don't think he provides enough power given his salary. The Dodgers really haven't done anything to improve their team. Guess they're waiting for the sale and the inevitable cash infusion. Eithier will get even more overpaid next year since he'll be a FA. Unless he totally tanks and gets injured.
On the Prince Fielder-Rangers thing, the Rangers have a pretty interesting dilema going. If they sign Prince that probably means that they'll let Josh Hamilton leave after 2012. Hamilton wants a fair contract from the Rangers (read: market value) and won't take a hometown discount. I don't see them giving him a big money contract and signing Fielder and Darvish. I think they sign Fielder and let Hamilton go and trade prospects for another OF after the 2012 season.

I'm not trying to hate on Tebow or anything, but man he throws some DUCKS!! Seriously, I saw a few instant replays of his passes during the game and they wobble the whole way there. I agree he's playing real well and was a big factor in the win, but throwing, ugggh, I've seen better arms on a chair.
Yeah, but he was far WORSE in the previous games. So that's an improvement I guess. At least he seemed to improve his pocket awareness a little. During the previous weeks, he seemed to run backwards when he was faced with a little pressure.
But yeah, the quicker the Broncos realize that Tebow isn't a long term answer at QB the better they'll be as a franchise. Otherwise, they'll be stuck at 6-9 wins for a long time.

I wonder how Boras explained to Madson how he went from getting a multiyear contract worth 10+ million dollars a year to settling for a 1 year 8.5 million dollar deal. Anybody ever read one of those booklets that Boras sends out to teams concerning one of his FA's? They're pretty funny. There's one a few years ago that compared Oliver Perez to Sandy Koufax.
The teams have the advantage because we're so close to Spring Training. They'll take whatever the best offer is at this point.
I've read that Jackson has been getting interest from the Yankees. But they only want to sign him for a one year deal.
Fielder has zero interest in a one year deal and the suitors are slowly disappearing. Blue Jays aren't interested. Neither are the Marlins. I think Boras is waiting to see if the Rangers sign Darvish (deadline is the 18th) before doing anything.
Here's a really long interesting article on the Hall of Fame written by Joe Posanski:

I'm a book person as well, love the smell of the paper, love spending time wandering around bookshops. I'm more interested in getting one for reading material thats online already rather than for converted books. I find it uncomfortable reading through a lot of text from a computer screen.
That's probably why I'll never convert to a Kindle/ereaders full time. After a few minutes of reading text from the computer my eyes begin to glaze and I just start skimming the page just to get to the end of it.

I think Bagwell will make it. He got 56.0% of the vote this year and that was an increase of something like 14% from last year.
Piazza and Biggio are pretty much locks for next year. Schilling I think will get in because of his big game heroics. But he probably doesn't deserve to as noted by Axlin12.
The real interesting part is if the juicers (Bonds, Clemens) don't get the votes, I wonder which candidate benefits. Does Jack Morris get the final 8.3% needed to get in? Morris is in a tricky situation since he's only on the ballot for two more years then he has to go the Veterans Committee route. I could see Tim Raines getting a bump up from his 48.7% vote total this year.
I think Bonds gets at least 30% of the vote next year. I have no clue about Clemens, I think a lot of people still hold that appearance at Washington against him.
Bud Selig was given a two year extension today. I thought that fucker was supposed to retire after his current contract expired.

Yeah Pats will definitely wipe out the Broncos. You play zone vs Tebow not man to man. The WR for the Broncos is legit though. Both of the AFC divisional round games look like blowouts for the home teams. Might as well just wait for BAL@NE to begin in a week.
The real interesting games are in the NFC. NO@SF and NYG@GB hold far more interest and appeal to me. It's clear that for this year, the NFC is the superior conference.

Bono wrote:So what. In my opinion he's one of if not the only guy who has been able to genuinely carry a storyline over the past decade. He's not past it and he's a badass character. He still gets a huge pop when his music hits, he shouldn't be jobbing to the new scrubs on the roster who can't hold a crowd. untill they find a guy who can legitimately comand the crowd let Triple H carry the ball. As it should be. I sure as fuck don't wanna see Triple H ever jobbing to a douche like Ziggler.... CM Punk fine but there's so much shit on the roster these days. Triple H isa bright spot for sure.
Forgot to write this earlier- THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH HHH. It's in fact a classic example of him not putting people over when he should. WHY THE HELL DID HE NOT JOB TO PUNK.
It made no sense and killed Punk's momentum, and having Nash didn't help.
*Ok rant about HHH over, Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm still trying to figure out what the point was of having Nash interfere with SummerSlam. I mean it helped no one but Nash and HHH. Del Rio or Punk didn't benefit at all from this. It helped derail the CM Punk momentum from the MITB win. I mean he was probably guaranteed a rematch at Wrestlemania with the Undertaker next year so it's not like he need the spotlight again for a while.
HHH might wrestle better than most of the current roster but he gives the same monologue promo and still buries guys.
And yeah, the previous list posted by AtariLegend is damning evidence against HHH. I'm pretty sure the WWE had other guys booked to win the title at Wrestlemania (Booker T and RVD) but they got nixed at the last minute by HHH.
I think of current guys Orton is probably closest to being overprotected. With the exception of HHH and Mark Henry, very few wrestlers have come out of a feud with Orton that have had their heat intact. CM Punk last year feuded with Orton last spring and lost all their matches and came out weaker. Same thing with Christian. I fear he is doing the same in his feud with Wade Barett.
