Doesn't matter if it was from Beta's. In fact, that makes it more odd. I'd think if someone were to hack into Beta's email right now, they'd find letters to family, bills, spam, etc like you'd find on anyone's. Not 3-7 year old emails containing Axl's thoughts on everything we ever wanted to know and stuff that could destroy the band. It's like a bad fan fiction story.

If you have high capacity email, you can easily accumulate a shitload of emails over the years. All a hacker would need to do is search for keywords and they would find a treasure trove. Remember that Beta is Axl's adopted mom, so the "letters to family" thing is very relevant in this case.

Which leads to another question?  Why would she keep a 7 year old email in her account?  Couldn't she just copy it off onto a memory stick/storage device and delete it afterwards?  Sounds kinda fishy why she would just leave that stuff in the account after reading and responding to it.

Random thoughts about this:

Beta still uses aol email?  That was so 90s.  Item #52  December 2006 letter threatening to sue Zakk Wylde.  What is that about?  Anybody want to guess about that.

Anyway, I'm not really shocked that Axl is low on funds.  Didn't Mick Wall say he was running low on money 3 years ago.  I know Wall is a suspect source but still he said this when CD was first released.  I don't get guys are defending Axl.  He is always will be the root of GNR problems with his personality.  I wish he would just hire someone competent to deal with his affairs.  It doesn't look like the Malibu Mafia is helping him.  I find it sad that when a long time band member like Dizzy has to beg for an update (item 85 Aug 2009) from Beta and can't communicate with Axl himself.

This does seem like fan fiction though.

In this ridiculous society we live in, you put Axl in front of a billion people who haven't seen him for 15 years and he will be the laughing stock of the Super Bowl even if he gives a good vocal performance. The people who actually have bothered paying attention already know what he looks like these days, but there are millions upon millions that don't even have a clue. It's not a blip on their radar. But if he is shoved down their throat, you can bet your ass the conversation will quickly turn from "great musical performance" to "wow, he really let himself go over the years." That's the society we live in. So I'm not sure how exactly this would be a dignified situation for him.

Gotta disagree with you on this one my friend.  If he shows up with Slash and they put together an OK performance (no glaring errors or out of breath vocal work) he'll get praised like hell.  Yeah, a few assholes might bitch about his looks.  But this is Axl and Slash back together again.  Besides Americans love second acts.  Look how much positive press the 1996 Van Halen reunion with Roth garnered (before Eddie pissed it away).

It's actually a pretty good story.  Shit, I almost forgot the Steven Adler angle too.  There's a lot of stuff there that could generate positive press.

Total ownage, the truth has been spoken.  Give us back the biggest band in the world... U2, Bon Jovi, Def Leopard, Motley Crue, Metallica... Ger ready to play 2nd fiddle again if and when Axl decides to go all in with the old band.  How bad ass would it be if each member rose up from under the stage ala Slash with the smoke and shit from the super bowl.  BEP sucked, but loved how the brought Slash in and yes, he is still badass.  Still unsure about them playing with it being so cold out.

Next year's Super Bowl will be played in Indinapolis in a domed indoor stadium.  The one after that will be played in NY.  That one is outdoors.

The fan in me wants them to play a longer set than the 15 minutes or so that they usually give the Super Bowl halftime gig.  Although I would find it ironic that they would play a reunion gig in Indinapolis of all places.

I'd rather see the current line up to be honest instead of the old crew getting together with the hatred there n all.

I'd always imagine them doing a huge festival if the old group wanted to do a one off.  It just made more sense.  The Super Bowl halftime show is about publicity and pushing your brand.

The New GNR brand in the US is not very popular.  Most still associate GNR (casual music fans) as the classic AFD lineup.

If there is zero intention of burying the hatchet between Axl and Slash (and that is what we are talking about here), they should just continue what they are currently doing now anyway.  Less stress involved for all participants.  Axl releases music every several years and Slash works with a whole bunch of people and does VR.

Could MSL be the one to end Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak?

They're setting up Sting vs Undertaker.  That's the one they have to sell to get casual wrestling fans to pony up for Wrestlemania.  It's the only one that actually makes sense.  No one wants to see Barett vs Undertaker or HHH vs Undertaker or the Kane vs Undertaker for the 50th time.

The PPV buy rates have dropped and the stock has been taking a hit.  They need something to entice people to watch.

I think it's obvious that the NFL is going back to the geezer rock template after the Black Eyed Peas failed miserably this year.  I'm not buying the GNR stuff because if they perform there they almost have to launch a reunion tour.  No sense in going half way and not capitalize on the entire money train (ie full scale reunion).

I'm skeptical because this has only come from one source--kensterling.com--and those things have a way of spreading.  Anyone hear about that Jon Gruden to Phily rumor that spread like wildfire after the Super Bowl?  That rumor was started by an ex-Eagles player and mostly everyone assumed that to be the truth.  The Eagles quashed it the next day.  If it comes from another reliable source I'd take this more seriously.

The NFL usually announces the Super Bowl halftime acts in the fall (October I think) so we should know quickly whether or not it is true.

I stopped reading HTTGH when it became so obviously pro Axl.  Mygnr is unbearable now because there are just so many stupid posts there that I can't really leaf through 10 pages or so just to find one decent well written post.

I never got the entire asslicker mentality.  I mean just because you write a bunch of posts praising the band (or certain band members) doesn't mean that you'll get something in return.  It just seems strange if you're going to post an individual opinion why on earth would you want to shape it with a certain slant or bent.

I occasionally lurk at this imdb page for a tv show.  There's this one poster who no matter what the show does will automatically defend it and shape her argument towards that even if the episode in question is a steaming turd or the writing just stinks.

Izzy
Marc Canter

He played with Izzy in 2006 and said they had rekindled their friendship.  Marc Canter has steadfastly maintained that he is friends with both Axl and Slash.   I think he should stop posting stuff already or at least make up some stuff that sounds more believable.

Ooh just saw the video that Tejas provided since I always turn off the halftime show.  And yes Fergie was awful with her singing.  I guess there's a certain style that I expect to be sung with that song.  But that sounded American Idol bad.
