Great work at replicating the intro. Shows why we need a slash and duff edition!

I consider re-recording CD very unlikely for both financial and creative reasons.l

I consider this a possibility:

1. 2016 -  A New Greatest Hits Release - this could include new mixes of 2-3 Chinese Democracy with Slash and Duff replacing existing parts.

2. 2017 -  AFD 30th Anniversary Remaster in 2017, possibly with a bonus edition with rare tracks (Demos/Shadow of Your Love etc)

3. 2018 - At the conclusion of the global tour a Bluray/DVD of the reunion show.

4. 2019 - Recording + Development of New Stuff + Re-recording of CD2 etc

5.2020 - Something actually new.

I also listened to Slash's Snakepit "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". I found it to be awful.

It's a polarising record because a lot of people are off put by Eric Dover's vocals and Lyrics.

Have a listen to those guitar parts though. With Axl songs like Dime Store Rock, Soma City Ward and others would have been very much like GNR's rockers.

YEah i remember that bonus dvd of that stuff on The Slip was awesome. I was saying at the time I'd love a GNR version of that - like a live setting but also intimate.

Release everything that was recorded with Finck/Bucket as a box set and move on with Slash and Richard, they`re too good not to record new music. Axl has best guitar duo right now, I hope he won`t fuck it up this time and we`ll get an album soon.

I hope so too.

But I think Axl's creative process is too vexed for him to sacrifice songs to hardcores only boxset like a Fink/Bucket collection of 99/02 unreleased songswould be.

Given how tortured the album process seems to be for him, if he has stuff semi-finished from 200x era that is otherwise good to go it might make more sense to just use his vocals and let Slash/Duff do what they did with the live version of Better and TIL etc

Crap I would have liked this. Not a fan of Robin in GNR but enjoyed his NiN stuff with "The Slip" and also seeing them live he played the hits in a cool way.

This is hard as I a lot of the GNR side projects, and some would consider CD as side project relative to the old band's catalogue even though it was released under the classic name.

Aside from CD which I'm a big fan of....

I like the First Snakepit record a lot - those songs would be straight up AFD2 if Axl had been involved. The guitar sounds are classic early slash.

Pretty fond of contraband too as although weiland can be repetitive and I missed Axl, but some of those songs are very GNR in their own way - such as 'Suckertrain Blues'.

I`m for erasing Buckethead`s parts because a) he left 12 years ago and b) it will be an absolute mess if Slash`s solos are pasted on top of Bucket`s. No need to bury songs beneath ten guitars. Cohesiveness is necessary.

This makes a lot of sense.

I think the major problem on CD was the lack of a cohesive guitar sounds.

When you listen to the stems from rockband its so jumbled. It was an interesting experiment to fuse so many things - but in the end I think the live versions came off better as it's more cohesive with a band - and I think they would have been even more so if you'd had one guitarist like Bumble or Bucket doing all the solos.

I figure they could always release some buckethead demos on a Deluxe Edition or B side or something...but at this point I think they should get the strongest of Axl's songs and add Slash, then get some of Slash's GNR style riffs and get Axl to do his Ac/Dc rasp over the top - wrap it up and release it as a new GNR record.

I think it comes down to the need to drop more music.

We either need a reunion album, or we need CD2 as it was, or CD2 altered by the reunion lineup, or hell, CD1 altered by the reunion line up.

The live show kicks fucking ass but I feel without new music of some variety it's hard to really feel like you're a fan of something moving forward rather than just reliving the hey-day - and god knows I love the hey-day - and I'm looking forward to these shows - but still....even a single or something would make this feel like its a return to form and there's a band.

For the record, I declare my bias outright: the NITL tour is a great show but nothing about this operation interests me. I checked seeing Axl and Slash off my bucket list. I'd kill for a Bucket, Brain, Melissa/Pitman, and Axl lineup.

It's been 7.5 years since CD. I should just punch myself in the dick for continuing to follow this band.

Really?

I must say to me the prospect of Slash and Duff adding to CD songs interests me more than the idea of CD2 without them does. I think CD was amongst Axl's best work but I think the old band has a much better chemistry than what ended up on those recordings.
