My excitement for this is going out the window. They're gonna veer it too much into the Alien world. I wanted the continuation of the story in Prometheus.....not where they change plans midway and are gonna bring Ripley's mother into this. I think they initially had a vision for this concept, it didn't kill at the box office, so they're gonna wrap it up quicker to get it to connect with Alien.
A shame.
They are doing what?
As much as I disliked Prometheus I did have a bit of an interest in the story to come. But I guess we'll be seeing another remake/reboot/sequel that is so popular today. Can't wait for a string of these movies to bomb, bankrupting some of these lazy studios.

I agree it's a 'joke', but man. Siding with a foreign country over hacking is pretty close to encouraging espionage. Are we not sane here??
His whole campaign is just comical. I think in time his ego, quick talking & wittiness will just get the best of him. Then again, I've said that since September.
How is he siding with another country? He says find, not hack. Could indicate he wants them to do it again, or it could indicate if they already got a big stack of emails they will find the Hillary ones. It's ambiguous, and with Trump should no longer come as a surprise. His statements are crafted like that to get attention, and get it he does.

Hillary breaks the law, Russians hack her and Trump is the bad guy?

No, but when he's done this in the GE polls the last week, it stands to reason he could get a jump in the state polls as well.

I don't think the argument boils down to more than the states being close enough for it not to be a shock were it to happen, and Trump's been doing well lately.

Latest polls are 3 weeks old though. He's been trending upwards all of July.

Alien: Covenant has a lot going on under the hood. It is both a prequel to the storied Alien franchise, as well as a sequel to the movie Prometheus. While there will certainly be elements of both films in Covenant, Michael Fassbender explains how this movie will differ from its predecessor. The actor says that the new film will be taking many cues from the original Alien and will, therefore, be much scarier that Prometheus was.
While the excitement for Prometheus, which spent most of its production seemingly not sure if it was Alien prequel or not, was very high, the end result didn't quite hit the mark for many fans. Having said that, interest in the Alien franchise as a whole has never waned. So, what will Alien: Covenant do to improve on Prometheus, beyond simply calling itself an Alien movie at the beginning? Michael Fassbender tells Collider that it will be a movie much more in the vein of Alien as far as tension and terror.
It's much scarier than Prometheus, but it's got the same sort of scope of Prometheus. It's kind of got more of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it's kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I'm really excited to see it, I think it's gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus... Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn't let up. It's really gonna bring chills to the cinema.
The scope of Prometheus was certainly big. The film essentially encompassed all of humanity. However, it's the "imminent disaster" idea here that we're most interested in. That was the thing that made Alien an absolutely stellar sci-fi horror movie. The enemy was a nearly indestructible monster, who could have been lurking behind any corner. We fully expected our characters to be brutally killed at any moment, and that was what made the film tense and exciting. It certainly seems that Ridley Scott is going to try to recapture that magic here in Alien: Covenant. Michael Fassbender's comments echo those recently made by co-star Danny McBride, who called Covenant a "dark horror movie."
We're guessing these are exactly the sorts of words that fans are going to want to hear about Alien: Covenant. With Ridley Scott returning to the franchise that he began, we were expecting something a little more Alien-ish with Prometheus . Unfortunately, what we got was a cartographer who got lost and a biologist who tried to pet an alien creature. Hopefully, the crew of the spacecraft Covenant is a bit smarter than those on the Prometheus.

I now think Donald Trump is going to win
All last week, the talk was about how the Republican Party was divided. I’m here to tell you it’s nothing compared to what’s going on with the Democrats at their convention in Philadelphia. And it’s making me believe in the impossible: Donald Trump will win this election.
The recent WikiLeaks email controversy highlights how the Democrats aimed to bring down Bernie Sanders from within the party – methods that included attacking his faith. They wanted to destroy Bernie Sanders and rig the Democratic primary system for Hillary Clinton.
Then, of course, Trump went after Hillary’s middle name – Rodham, comparing it to the word “rotten.” Clinton’s VP pick Tim Kaine told “60 Minutes” that “most of us stopped the name-calling thing about fifth grade.” And, frankly, there is something to that. Taking somebody’s name and turning it from Rodham to rotten, he doesn’t need to do that. But he has this pathological need.

It’s like how he also decided to give Clinton and Jeb Bush the same treatment during the Republican primaries, calling her “low energy” and that she needs naps.
“No naps for Trump,” he yelled to his roaring supporters. “We don’t have time.”
Really, that’s an applause line? “I don’t take naps!” It’s all so ridiculous. Everything about this — both sides — is ridiculous.
By the time I get out of the Democratic National Convention Friday night, I’m going to be so done with political zealots in both parties. Because being so passionate for these people who we see are so flawed just doesn’t make sense.
And even though I love covering the events in Cleveland and Philadelphia and being on top of these stories, I think they should get rid of conventions. It’s such mindlessness.
And yet, it seems to be working for Trump. Lou Dobbs told us on the show last week that Trump would get a huge bump after the Republican National Convention and that Clinton would be the first to get a negative bounce. And that was before the emails.
If that happens, this election could be over. Certainly, a lot can change in the next 3.5 months. But, I’ll be honest — I didn’t come in as a Donald Trump supporter, but as a pseudo-objective observer (who would never vote for Hillary Clinton). I always thought she was going to win — until the last five days or so. The last two nights of the RNC and talking to the Bernie people here in Philly — seeing how much anger there is on the left — I do believe Donald Trump is going to win now.
It’s getting crazy. It’s getting really crazy.

This guy predicted 49 of 50 states last time. He's giving Trump a small edge to win if the election was held today.
#1349 Re: The Garden » 2016 Presidential Election Thread » 511 weeks ago
That's the bind for someone like Trump. He would be expected to tone it down anyway, trying to reign in the moderates, but then he might lose his edge. It's a risk. I hadn't thought too much about the gender factor. Because it's Hillary I guess.
Another thing is that there's plenty to attack with Hillary. She's a walking scandal. Trump probably should try and capitalize on that to the max.
I think she's tough enough to make it work. A boxing match would be wonderful to watch.

Depends. Does he want to give up his best game? Getting his opponents off balance is what brought him here. Perhaps he'll just end up looking plain if he holds back.
