Getting nervous about this now. Germany never beat Italy in a tournament.

On the other hand Germany is not hailed as favorites on this one. Nor have they let in any goals yet, which is rare for them. Italy taking out Spain, a similar team to Germany, might provide them with the recipe.

I see this either as a close match where Italy will win (because superstition) or an easy victory to Germany.

It would be a civil war. Like the last two were.

The table is certainly set for war in the not too distant future. Relations between, well pretty much everybody, have and are deteriorating. Question is how such a scenario would play out without nukes. One variant could be another WWII situation where the USA is engaged in full scale war in Europe, but avoiding the use of nukes for political reasons. Like a "rebellious Europe" situation where the US does another "intervention". I mean, it's not likely I guess, but one have to wonder what the USA would do if say the UK started acting contrary to their interests in a big way. Could a Donald Trump bomb them? A Hillary? 10 years ago I'd never ask that question, now I don't know.

Any war would be concentrated in the USA and Europe. China and Russia are the only other options for a war on the scale of the last one, and I don't see elites in either country ever allowing the inevitable nuclear exchange, so direct war is off the table.

It wasn't bad, but another case of good story, bad execution I thought. While not exactly a "fine" writer, these show makers don't deserve Martin. It did feel more like a rushed best of episode than a proper finale.

Now that the table is finally set for the showdown we've been told about since S01E01, perhaps we can get better pacing next/last season. No reason to drag anything out anymore. I am disappointed LF's first misstep is a sign that he will meet an ignoble end. LF ending up on the Iron Throne after destroying everybody else by pitting them against each other, then getting killed by the Walkers shortly after is my fantasy ending.

This has to be England's biggest defeat since the USA in 1950. Credit to England they have always beat the minnows in the knockouts, it's as soon as they meet a big team they go out. Not this time. This is history over again. The quintessential English defeat.

Script was perfect as well. Early cockup by Iceland, penalty. It's the inexperience getting to them you think. England 1-0, this is going to be easy. Then the momentum is crushed on the first opportunity. Equalizer. England getting mad, but not nervy yet. 10 minutes, 2-1 Iceland. England are now looking clueless, and for 70 minutes the bottle unfolds in all its glory.

I'm sorry Englanders, but thank you.

This is too good. England are cursed.
