#1461 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » 1993 Australian Tour Press Conference - Norman Gunston » 809 weeks ago
Nahh I have never been able to find any footage of the actual '93 concerts in Sydney or Melbourne. But the DVD I have is full of all the news reports plus interviews they did whilst they were here in 1993.
I'll go through it again and see if there is anything else good to upload. One of the interviews says they did an hour long soundcheck at the venue and there are a few seconds footage of that. So presumably somewhere there could be full footage of it. But again like everything it's probably sitting in some TV stations archive and/or the bands archive.

Was talking about this vid in another thread. I have had it on a bootleg DVD for ages but finally thought I would upload it to youtube since I have never been able to find it on there.
Norman Gunston was the alter ego of an Aussie comedian. He did interviews with famous people and asked stupid/funny questions. He turned up at the press conference for GNR when they came to Oz in 1993 and did his usual tricks.

Being a comedy type of show I guess you would expect them to do something like this. But shit if you are going to, at least make it funny. Like most others I don't speak German but for anyone that does please tell us if it was just as unfunny as it appeared?
I still reckon the funniest interview ever was the one when they came to Australia in 1993 and Norman Gunston asked questions. I've got it on DVD here but not sure how to upload to youtube and never seen it on there. That's some classic comedy, Slash and Duff were laughing and didn't know what to do other than laugh and give him props for the questions.

If she really loved her son (not sure if they are in a hating or loving period, it seemed to vacillate reading Adlers book), she wouldn't have done this shit. It certainly doesn't help his cause for wanting a look in on any reunion action.
I mean Axl even mentioned the complications of Adler being involved in anything GNR ever again due to his mother and ambulance chasing lawyers (I think he said).

Yeah I generally found pickup lines rarely worked. Instead they have to be so lame or so funny that you are almost doing it for a joke. Then they have a chance as simply being an ice breaker, like in Bono's case. If you get the girl laughing that's then a great starting point for conversation from there.
My mates and I use used to dare each other to go up to girls and throw out a cheesy pick up line just for laughs. My favourite was to go up to a girl and say:
"Quick grab your jacket we're leaving, you've just scored".
#1466 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba does to the TIL solo what Bucket did to Nightrain » 809 weeks ago
DJ certainly seems to be playing it better than he did the first few attempts he had. The first couple of goes at it were bloody woeful, the poor bastard it must have been embarassing.
Perhaps when he decided to stop trying to replicate Robin's solo perfectly it became easier for him. He seems to have put his own style/stamp on it now and has no problems.

^ Fuck really? If you are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for one show (depending upon what the bands cut was from the $1M ticket sales), you would think Axl could at least turn up on the same DAY as the concert.
#1470 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash commenting on Duff with GNR » 810 weeks ago
Yeah it's almost funny in a Homer Simpson sort of way how Adler verbalises the thoughts he has in his head. Something will come into his mind - e.g. "Axl is bat shit crazy" and he just blurts it out without even thinking.
Whilst it's kind of refreshing that sort of honesty, he is the one guy as you say Faldor that really does need to pull his head in and say the right things and be diplomatic if he ever wants to get a look in on any reunion action.
