After the auction had ended, a GNR fan spotted the Zutaut discs in an online listing for the auction, and contacted the buyer. The buyer agreed to sell the CD's for a set price. Then a bunch of GNR fans pooled their money together to drive and get the discs and make copies for themselves. But then, as idiots tend to do, the donors got mad at each other and started leaking tracks out of spite. And now, realizing they might face legal action, they're all trying to throw each other under the bus even though they were all dumb enough to declare "hey, I have the stolen thing!""

I read something about Chris Pitman being involved but I couldn’t tell if that was just a joke. I’m guessing it was. So Zutaut didn’t sell the stuff himself? Such a convoluted story, par for the course in the land of GNR.

Tom didn't sell it, it was auctioned with all other storage locker contents.
It was something like this

But with GNR demos! 16

Again, Brain's comments from this year about the song

"It’s funny because how ‘The General’ came about was we were supposed to, you know, this was like building up to that show. Everybody was like “Hey if anybody has songs or shit you can bring them in. So that song, ‘The General’ was a song that from when [inaudible] and [inaudible] and I, when I wasn’t doing Guns stuff would just jam in my living room type of thing. I had a pro tool setup, we were jamming, we were trying to come up with songs for Guns and we had this song called, well we called it ‘The General’ because we were eating general’s chicken. Yet, when I turned it in to Axl [Rose] he thought it was called ‘The General’ because I was making fun of Tommy [Stinson] and Tommy was kind of the band MD, he was the musical director when we would have rehearsals and Axl thought i was kind of poking fun at Tommy like a general. Like sort of a ‘hey we’re rehearsing at this time’ and that kind of shit. I was like ‘no dude, it’s because we ate general’s chicken."

Axl even makes fun of Tommy on stage during RIR 2001, all fits.

We now know for a fact there was a complete 10+ songs album by the end of 2000.

How do you think, with the songs we know existed by then, the album would be tracklisted?

Songs completed at the time:
Chinese Democracy
Atlas Shrugged
Hardschool
There Was A Time
Catcher in the Rye
Perhaps
State of Grace
I.R.S
Madagascar
This I Love
Prostitute
Street of Dreams (The Blues)
Oh My God
Riad N' the Bedouins
Silkworms
Going Down

Still instrumentals/not complete but if we stretch release to 2001 could be complete
Better
Sorry
If The World

Am I missing something?

Is there any inclination to think that they would play based on past events? It never crossed my mind.

If they played Shadow Of Your Love it would be a victory.

No indication whatsoever they'll play anything new.
It seems just like a warm up show for the tour.

Shadow of Your Love was played on the last tour only a handful of dates in, so it may be in the cards but since it's not the "working song" as it was for the boxset, I wouldn't hold my breath..

Axl did a pretty poor job of not excaping the past ever & going full steam into Nu-GnR.

Completely agree. I think Axl thought that just putting the new guys on would be a bold enough move - given his confidence (or lack thereof) at the time.
It wasn't bold enough.

Finck plays alot of the best parts of these tracks that everyone seems to credit Bucket for.

Not just the credit but Robin was really unique in playing style and, I've said this many times over the years, was Axl's gateway to MOVE FORWARD.
Once Axl, the record company or Yoda wanted to be nostalgia, Robin was not happy...

I'd like a pm with links, if one has it.
Better is one of my fave GNR songs ever, so really interested in hearing its genesis.
