I was shocked Axl said he's willing to go further with AC/DC, like I interpret that to mean being a full time member.

Yeah I was thinking the other day - how would we react if after the reunion tour Axl just retired GNR and was Ac/Dc exclusive.

Obviously it would suck as GNR is my favourite band....but I also could vaguely imagine it happening, the GNR struggles seemed to bring him a lot of angst over the years. In Ac/Dc there might not be the same pressure to write (given the band didn't always make Brian write), and he could enjoy the process more without all the pressures of leadership etc. On top he'd remain just as sucesssful/famous - if not more so.

It's kinda bizarre world but I could see it happening. Unless the band decides to work on a new album...I can see a world in which he might just consider GNR finished.

Well, Malcolm was the co songwriter with Angus, and what I've read about the last album, the songs were preexisting songs from other albums that Angus put together. If Axl made an album with them I'd be surprised if he wasn't involved in the writing.

In the case of the "Rock or Bust" album I wonder if all the songs were that old. Malcolm was definitely credited as co-writer on every track but I also wonder the extent to which that was a respectful/traditional credit.

I remember reading an interview with Angus around the time Malcolm was forced to retire and he was describing how it was always Malcolm's band. Angus said that he himself would come up with riffs sometimes and play them for Malcolm and the ones Malcolm liked he'd say "Remember that, I think there's something in that one" etc.

I guess it's not hard to believe that over 30 years they could have an album worth of spare tracks around ready to go. Just we know that Malcolm was starting to struggle even during the black ice tour.

Update from Classic Rock Magazine:

A leading hearing technology boss reports that AC/DC’s Brian Johnson has been in touch with him, after a social media campaign was launched to make a meeting happen.

The hearing technology boss who vowed to help AC/DC’s Brian Johnson return to live performance says the pair will meet next week, following an online campaign Johnson was forced to stop touring earlier this year under the threat of permanent deafness – but Stephen Ambrose, head of in-ear monitor makers Asius Technologies, vowed he could help the veteran singer return to the stage.

Now Ambrose says the pair will discuss the situation next Tuesday (May 17). He reports: “Due to everyone’s tremendous support, Brian and I spoke yesterday. What a gracious man. He and his wife invited me to visit them next week.

“If anyone deserves to benefit from my research it’s Brian, who’s been giving incomparable performances for years, despite increased hearing loss.

“I’m going to do my utmost to see if our breakthroughs can help him. If I’m successful I’m sure Brian will let everyone know.

“Please pray for our success next week.”

Has this been posted?

Inventor of Inner Ear Monitors claims he can relieve Brian's live performance issues.

He sounds terrible in that video and you cant compare Axl fiascos to it.

Why not? He sounds off because he couldn't hear. He is also very old to be singing that style at 68.

Why did Axl sound bad at Rio 2011 or for that matter on the nights in 2002 where he sang like that. Is there even a reason?

If anything Axl's disasters are far more questionable than the last couple of shows of Brian's career being sub par when he has an obvious disability.

It's really cool that 20 plus years on Axl has decided to fix things with Slash, has resumed singing in his famous style, and is giving his all to helping Angus out of a jam....but let's not get it out of perspective. Brian has been a rock for ac/dc for 30 years.

I just can't see Ac/Dc re-recording their songs with Axl - there is so much love for Bon and Brian that those would be considered untouchable. Just look at the hallowed way they refer to Bon in any interview.

I would believe they might do a live-album of them though.

If the band follows it's normal pattern the next product we could expect would be a proshot dvd of the Rock or Bust tour - they have done this with Ballbreaker, Still Upper Lip and Black Ice tours. The question is if such a dvd came out would it have Brian or Axl or both. I haven't heard of them filming any of the brian shows....so there's a a reasonable chance they could film one of the final dates with Axl.

Here's another one where Axl sounds great

Some more ideas

A7x
Chickenfoot
Ac/Dc
Aerosmith
Megadeth

Some of these are more co-headliers obviously.

I had a strange idea this morning.

Adler opens up for GNR.

Then he does a quick cameo with GNR during the encore too.

Would be a way to involve him without giving him back his job.

I think Axl is kicking ass fronting Ac/Dc but lets not start taking shots at Brian he was already deaf when that video was taken and he has been amazing for decades now.

The man is also FOURTEEN YEARS older than Axl.

Tell me how Axl will go singing it in 2030 ?

This is how Brian did at the start of the tour when he was the age axl will be in 1.5 decades from now or so
