Yep, from up above a few posts.

From HTGTH

On page 2 of the 'Play' entertainment guide in today's edition of The Herald Sun news paper (Melbournes biggest paper) theres a 'whats hot and not' section and in the 'Not' it states:

"Guns n Roses- playing Sydney, snubbing Melbourne in December"

Yeah Herald Sun a Melbourne newspaper - typical Sydney vs. Melbourne thing.

Perhaps the AFL should have thrown $1M at Guns to play at the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne.  Then we would have seen the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper saying GNR snubbs Sydney.  16

The strange thing was I wasn't aware of any comment about "snubbing Melbourne" until Axl bought it to my attention.  Although I still don't even know where the comment is or where it came from???

Anyhow I would take it with grain of salt, Sydney and Melboure have big hangups about each other.  They are like two siblings always trying to compete with each other as to which is the better state, "our city is more liveable, but this one has the harbour, but this one gets all the best sporting events, we've got better weather" etc etc etc.

Presumably that's why the snubbing comment didn't mention any of the other capital cities like Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth (we're they not also "snubbed")?  Either someone from Melbourne got their nose outta joint or someone from Sydney was just trying to rub it in  You don't hear anything from the other capital cities since they are just used to "getting snubbed" all the time.  Presumably the vastness of the distances in our country make it expensive to tour all over.  That's why I was surprised last time GNR toured they actually went to Adelaide and Perth.  Kudos to them for that!!!  I remember it bloody killed me back in 1993 when they came and only went to Sydney and Melbourne, being 18 and living in Perth I simply couldn't afford to go over then.

So Monkeychow - wanna place any bets on there being trouble at this event caused by pissed bogans?  16

(No offence to Bogans out there I'm a bit of one myself at times - but I just know that this sort of event brings them out of the woodwork though).

I've had this demo for a few years (I didn't get it off youtube), I'm pretty sure it's legit.

Nice singing too!

Monkeychow, I just got nofication from Ticketek about it and it said:

My Ticketek Pre-sale

Starts Thu 15 Jul, 9am
Ends Sun 18 Jul, 5pm*
GP on sale Mon 19 Jul, 9am

The rumours are true, 'November Rain' is set to fall on the Sydney Telstra 500 this Dec. Iconic rockers, Guns N' Roses, will explode in an exclusive Sydney performance on Sat night of the V8 Supercar Championship Series grand final as a part of the epic three day Rock 'n' Race event.

My Ticketek Members have the opportunity to pre-purchase tickets before the general public between Thu 15 Jul, 9am & Sun 18 Jul, 5pm. Entry to the hugely anticipated concert is included in a Sat 4 Dec event ticket from just $91.

If they are only doing a Sydney show then I won't be seeing them.  Already flying to Sydney next month to see Slash.  Unfortunately I'm not made of money sad

It's now been confirmed:

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/newsartic … fault.aspx

I wonder if they will add any extra dates or just do this one off event?  I had to do a double take when I looked at that pic in the link too 16

Also from the Daily Telegraph:

http://www.dailytele...9-1225891343165

LEGENDARY rockers Guns N' Roses have agreed to make just their second trip to Australia since 1993 - to appear at this year's Sydney 500 V8 Supercars street race.

Frontman Axl Rose last night confirmed the band will perform a one-off gig on Saturday, December 4, at ANZ Stadium, following the weekend's first event around the Olympic Park circuit.

"To mix Guns with this massive Sydney event will be a blast," Rose said.

"We will be in Europe just before we head to Sydney so it will be great to come out and chill around Australia for a while, spend a bit of time getting around and soaking up the relaxed Aussie vibe.

"When we came back in 2007 it had been about 14 years between tours in Australia and we had a complete ball.

"Bring on Sydney and the V8 Supercars. Hopefully I can get a ride in one of those big beasts while I'm there."

Famous for hit 1990s singles Sweet Child Of Mine, November Rain and You Could Be Mine, the US bad boys are expected to lift this year's total gate well above the 184,000 that attended the first-up event last December.

Acting Premier John Hatzistergos is scheduled to make an official announcement today and is confident interstate fans will flock to Sydney for the band's only East Coast performance.

It's believed V8 Supercars officials are paying Guns N' Roses more than $1 million to perform the solitary gig, included in the $91 price of Saturday's admission.

#1608 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Twitter Updates » 826 weeks ago

It does seem a long way to go to only play one gig and not do some sort of Aussie tour.  Presumably the money being thrown at them by the V8 super cars makes a one off gig worthwhile.

I will go on record as saying if I see one more dorky comment from DJ on twitter, I am going to disown the newest of the new Gnr.

Funny you say that I was looking at the twitter threads on another site and thought something similar.  He tweets crap all the time and a lot of it comes across to me as just "try hard bad ass rock n' roller".  YAWN!

On a slightly related note I cannot believe Buckethead was criticized for trying to use the GNR name to promote himself and further his personal career etc.  Man I cannot believe the amount of crap DJ pedals.
