#1651 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl fires back at Irv with lawsuit » 834 weeks ago

What Azoff wanted, the rocker says, was the reunion of Guns N' Roses.

So Axl admits this isn't Guns N' Roses 16  19

I am not going to buy the fact that it's all Azoff's fault that the album wasn't promoted and effectively a debacle when it was released.  Did Axl bank the cheque that he got from Best Buy?  Did Axl let funds from Best Buy go to Universal to clear his accumulated debts there?  If so then he is just as much complicit in this whole fucked up deal.

Just because he wasn't business savvy enough or didn't have the right people around him advising him on whether the deal he signed with Azoff was adequate and did everything he wanted (included touring and promo) - too bad.  If you get in the water with a shark expect to lose a few fingers.

If stuff about promo and tours was in the contract then great, I am sure Axl will win that one in court.  But if it wasn't - tough luck.

As for the bigger picture of Azoff owning the "trifecta" of Artist Management, Concert Touring & Promo and Ticket Sales.  I agree with Axl's position and if he can get this whole merger thing reviewed great.  But I remind him that Azoff was only going to get the Quinella for these things it was Axl who handed him the Trifecta by appointing him as manager.  If he thought that there was going to be a conflict of interest why get into bed with him?

Durrrrr as others have said what else did he fucken expect Azoff's agenda to be.  Did he think Azoff actually cared about the music and artistic expression.  16

Axl probably thought - who gives a fuck I will just go with him anyhow since he can cut me the best deal to get out of the financial hole I have dug myself with CD.

But it backfired since he didn't expect how much pull and influence Azoff could exert when Axl decided not to play ball after the fact.  So now he wants to fight back.  Good luck to him I say, I think the whole Tickemaster, Live Nation etc etc is bad for everybody (artists, consumers etc) except for Azoff and his pals and shareholders.

At the same time if you play with fire...if you dance with the devil...

pakidude - "we are coming to your neighborhood to give free estimates for windows in the next week and were wondering if you are interested"
Me - "no thanks"
dude - "did you recently have your windows replaced?"
Me - "No i jut moved here last year though"
dude - " is it a new house or an older one?"
Me - "well if you plan on coming to my neighborhood dont you know the ages of the houses here?" *click*

The bloody telemarketers!!!

I just have fun with them now if I have the time:

Telem: "Hi my name is Jessica and I'm calling from Telstra to tell you about our new broadband packages.  Which carrier is your current internet connection with?"
Me:  Mmmmm Jessica I like that name (said in a creepy voice)
Telem: "Umm thanks, who is your current broadband carrier?"
Me: "What colour panties are you wearing?"
Telem: "Pardon"
Me:  "What colour panties are you wearing or are you not wearing any at all?"
CLICK!

lol - I alway try and get them to hang up on me.  The Mrs is always sitting there pissing herself laughing.  The other day I kept asking this guy if he was a boy or a girl, it was so hard to keep a straight face and not laugh.

but still he did alright by himself jumpin on that bandwagon...the exposure alone was enough to justify

and it wasnt til GH where they got any kind of budget for songs anyway...up til then it was all cover ..i even think that GHIII had a few of them

Yeah he benefited out of GH much more than just the fee he got paid. How do you value the exosure he got from it, plus he was introduced to potentially a whole new generation of kids that may not have ever really knew much about him.

I thought this quote also from the CR Slash mag sums that point up well:

The by product of all of these sales has been the impact on the life of the man on the box.  "I have a specific story that will sort of shine a big bright light on that fact, " says Slash.  "A friend of mine who's a producer, he's got, I guess, a six-year-old little boy.  I went over to their house, and I'd never met his little boy.  I went over there, and the kid lost his mind.  "You're the guy from Guitar Hero".  He couldnt' get over it. A bit later on that night, he came over to me and went "Hey do you play real guitar too?".  I try not to pay attention to all of that going on, but the biggest change in my day-to-day existence was the acknowledgement of kids under 10 years old."

They were some cool pics, loved the plane one and the ones of that blonde chick 16

I wish someone would buy Axl a brush though.  His hair always looks like he has been touching a Van Der Graph generator.

Whatever about the Axl vs. Slash thing...But something I've never seen posted on these boards is how much did Slash get for the GuitarHero gig? Being the star of the first ever billion$ video game is nothing to sneeze at. Besides the upfront fee, I wonder if he had a moviestar contract where he got %'s at the backend? Could explain why he suddenly felt like ditching moody frontmen & going solo.

Slash fucked up on the Guitar Hero thing BIG TIME in the sense of what he got paid for it.  Either him (or his management) stupidly didn't negotiate some sort of ongoing percentage fee/royalty.  Let me quote from the Classic Rock Slash edition:

"For me personally, when I signed up to do it, that particular game really took off" he explains.  "The game wasn't as big before that.  It was a little more under the radar when they called me up.  And I did it for a pretty modest amount of money.  There was no offer of a royalty or anything.  Now after the fact, I'm like fuck....

Yep!

Cool the floor it is (fingers crossed we can all get them), I notice the Sydney gig is an all ages one whereas the other 2 are 18+.  Great even more competition for tickets!
